Why you should be using 2020 PoTM Aldaberto Mondesi

Why not just take Mondesi's swing and put him on a cap so he's better against both sides? I can't use Mondesi when Tatis, Lindor and my CAP are all better in the infield
CAP is best as cheese in the pen. Mondesi whipes the floor with Tatis and Lindor at the SS position.

Incorrect on all fronts

Evidence?

Still waiting on that there evidence.

I used Adalberto Mondesi's 85 card as a pinch runner in Conquest games for months. I haven't used his 98 card yet.
-
Its legit the best card in the game.

That's it. I'm finally convinced. I'm adding him to my RS squad immediately. He's currently at ZERO plate appearances, so let's see how I can screw this up.
-
WHEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
I’ve noticed it’s getting a little stressful out here on the board today. So, let’s all remember how fun Adalberto is.
You’re welcome.

He may in fact be the best card in the game. Of course this is strictly based on my own opinion and experience so others will vary, but I am a firm believer in the above statement. The only player whom I believe may be better offensively is Griffey and or Mantle.
Here are some reasons...
- 99 speed, 99 stealing.
If you haven't discovered it yet, speed is one of the most important attributes in this game next to power. If you're a scrub like me, you also understand how effective bunting is in this game. 7 stolen bags in RS in 7 attempts, he's basically standing on second the moment he reaches first.
- 125/125 vs LHP.
Swinging over .600 for me (and im not even bunting) the power mondesei brings to the table serves two purposes. 1 being the long dong. The second being...
- Vs RHP, auto shift plays defense deep
You can hit bloopers for days with a contact swing and Mondesei's 60 power vs rhp. This also serves as a counter to...
- Baiting and beating the bunt defense.
With his incredible speed many people assume auto bunt vs rhp, which is completely justified considering his bionic legs. But with the combination of 60 power, deep defense, 2b in, the right side has a hole so big, even the largest of men can't occupy this space.
- Gold defense at 2B
Since SS is going to always be occupied by Trevor Story, Mondesei can provide elite defense at 2B thanks to his incredible speed.
Try him out if you havent.
UPDATE
I firmly believe him to be the best card in the game. Since I posted this I am still hitting over .500 with him. A lot of players I am facing use the auto shift and play very deep. My average vs RHP is around .600 while vs LHP is around .400, very few AB vs LHP unfortunately.
Absolutely the best card in the game and a perfect lead off hitter. Bloop singles followed by Trout blasts for days.
Go on........

I suck with pretty much every hitter and every opponent I play tends to pitch in the stretch with any base runner on so Aldaberto has never done me much good. Guys slap with him against me though.
-
this is going to be a weird take... im a decent player. usually get to cs without a problem but i love cal ripken so much. i know people doen like his swing but in 87 games hes hitting .373 for me. i just moved him to the bench and put 99 bregman from the event there to test him out but ripken is one of my favourites this year

What's up with his stealing though? I've been thrown out 9 times in 25 attempts, even by Foxx a couple times... 99/99 should be to the base before foxx even gets the throw past the mound
I have had that happen too 99/99 still should give a close play with some of the catchers even with a perfect throw.
-
I haven't had any issues stealing. But I usually manage 1 L1 lead before I swipe.
-
Ah good ole’ meta Mondesi, nothing encapsulates DD more than a career .250 hitter being a better card than Hall of famers.
-
Yo. In a game to do Chisox pitchers innings, I hit a 2-run shot with his weaker left side to right in Comiskey with the wind blowing in 11mph in right field on a Changeup that I timed perfectly! 65 power and he blasted it. Almost a wall scraper, but I was shocked!!!
-
I'm going to preface all of this by saying I'm terrible online... offline I've grinded just about everything possible. Online, I can't hit for the life of me... except for Mondesi. I'm batting a little over .400 with him and his power has been an incredibly pleasant surprise. So I would always take this post as a joke, until I started using him. If a [censored] like me can rake with him, he has to be the best card in the game.

You said that beautifully hahaha

The thing I like the most about a guy bunting against me is he's never going to hit a home run. His upside potential is limited to just one base. And it's also unlikely you'll be able to take a pitcher deep into the AB, as the bunt often happens within the first 2 pitches. And no matter his speed, anyone who knows how to manage the running game and has a catcher with a strong arm can cut down about 30-40% of stolen base attempts (I wish the game kept stats), so getting Mondesi on via a bunt and then successfully stealing second with him is a high risk, low reward move every step of the way.
-
He is so good that I’m using him as a pinch runner to bait my opponents to pitch hard stuff to Bellinger... those slide step hanging fastballs are juicy!

I'd say low risk high reward actually. If he's on 2B, any base hit could score him, so far with Mondesi i have 20 SB and I've been caught only 1 time.
