I'm excited for MLB the Show 21. How about you?
-
I understand that people always have something to complain about, and everyone will never be happy, but I am excited to see what they end up doing with the extra month to prepare the game. I will admit I am a bit nervous that they won't be releasing gameplay until March, which proves the game still needs a lot of work. But all in all, I'm really stoked to see what's next.
-
I get that there should be hype but after the last few years, it's the same old broken game. The content is awesome but gameplay is mediocre at best. There are always so many bugs that gets worked on through the season and eventually it is abandoned until next year where everything is "fixed"
-
Same old rubbish in a fresh coat of paint, but I do hope they finally figure it out. However I'm less than optimistic they ever will.
-
I predict MLB20 and MLB21 will have the same gameplay. Only difference is one has Baez on the cover (non-cross platform) and the other will have Tatis (cross platform).

Really bugs? I've spent countless hours playing this game, and I haven't experienced any major bugs that ruin the game. Also, it definitely isn't the "same old broken game" SDS has done a lot of major things over the past few years, and have dealt with the different mettas of bunt cheese, and Home runs pretty well over the years. If you've played the game each year you would notice a huge difference.

If you played over the years you would also notice the first iterations of DD are the best in 16 and 17. 18 was trash, 19 was lineout city for the majority of the game until they removed hr/9(personally the game didn’t really play better till they made it free) and 20 is horrendously bad as far as pitching and hitting(I mean come on a early swing is better than a perfect swing) and the fielding was non existent for half the year. 20 was Lowkey a unfinished game at launch.

I've been playing the show since 14 and honestly 16 wasn't even that good. The ticket market was terrible, tickets were impossible to earn, and it was stupid that you could only earn xp for one captain at a time. 16 was full of bunt cheese, it wasn't a good game. It was hell. 17 was pretty good, 18 was home run or bust, and I didn't really have a major problem with 19, but it just fell short of expectations overall. As for baseball, nothing is perfect, in both video games and in real life. If you ever played, you know that sometimes you absolutely obliterate a ball, and it's just right at someone, and other times, you get a blooper. So yes, I think that an early swing CAN be better than a perfect swing. The majority of the time perfect swings should prevail, but not all the time. SDS shared the percentages awhile back about the perfect perfect outcomes, and I'm pretty sure it was about 85%,(don't quote me on the exact number). I'm not sure how pitching is flawed, people always complain, but there is no proof, they just say it sucks.

Strongly disagree with hitting and 20. It feels better than it has the past few years. Pitching took a leap backwards and down a hill, but hitting imo improved. Id rather see early swings get the production than just late/late swings.
Fielding was terrible early on, remember to thank Trevor May!

I agree with some of your points. I truly like 16 and 17 more because of the physics hitting. Pitching in those games actually plays great. As far as gameplay the basics anyway I think 16 and 17 are good. Well better than 18-20. And I agree I don’t need a hit every time I have a good swing, but some outcomes don’t make sense. But back to pitching in 20 it is bad. You’ve never experienced a perfect input for it to just be a ball that hangs or goes down the middle?

Idk I just feel the hitting is too random to enjoy sometimes, I’ve had instances where I’m not even on the ball be a homerun and then weak lineouts on good timed and placed swings. Personally for me there just isn’t much variety for results.

I honestly can say that 16 wasn't a good game, because of the bunt cheese, but honestly thats my personal opinion. Altough, we do agree that 17 was good while 18, and 19 struggled. 20 we somewhat disagree on. I agree sometimes the outcomes are questionable, but for the most part, they are pretty realistic and I can deal with a mistake every once in a while. Now that you explained why pitching is broken, I honestly feel that quite frequently during games, but I just shrug it off and begin to focus on executing my pitches more. You bring up good points, and I respect the civil discussion. This is what real life should be like, and I respect the hell out of you for having an open mind with reasonable arguments.

If I'm being honest, that's always existed in The Show. I don't know if its incorrect feedback, or if it really is the case, but I've seen it in every version of the game.

Could it be that hitting felt better because pitching was non existent?. You literally just had to wait for your opponent to throw an off speed pitch that breaks the laws of physics and starts going up into the middle of the zone. After about a decade of playing this game I’ll be passing on ‘21 outlier and sinker edition
-
Every version of the game since the beginning has had the glitches. This year there main glitches were in the fielding remember the running away from a popup in foul territory or the lack of locking on to a fly ball and over running it with a diamond fielder.
Fielding is better now but pitching is still messed up with the hangers. I honestly probably wont get 21
-
Anyone else overthinking 21’ think with the name of the event “where legends are made, the new Jackie cover and MLB finally acknowledging Negro leagues players we will get the Oscar Charleston's, Josh Gibsons and Satchel Paige type legends? Honestly feeling thats the only sure fire way to get me to preorder. Last year didnt preorder until Mantle was revealed. Instead of beefed up future stars there need more new legends. Walker and Mantle were great but not sure worth the grind
-
While I think this year is more likely than ever to feature the inclusion of Negro League stars, I think it has less to do with any of those reasons and more to do with...
- the BLM thing
- going cross-platform, which gives them a bigger budget for such things.

It would be cool, but you’re just dreaming there. There’s no indication the Negro Leagues players are now controlled by the MLBPA, the organization that license player rights/likenesses to the game. So yeah, don’t plan on preordering. Their goal isn’t going to be a huge expansion of the game, it’s going to be creating a cross-platform game that works. That is already going to be a massive challenge between not just consoles but generations of consoles, and probably the main reason there has been little news or dev interaction here on the forums in months.
