What are the win, hold and save requirements for 3- and 6-inning games? Anyone know? I brought a pitcher into a save situation in the 4th inning in an event game just now trying for a hold and didn’t get it.

If that reliever finished the game for the starter, then he would only get a save and not a hold. Another reliever would’ve needed to enter the game to hold the lead and get the save. That way, the reliever who came in during the 4th inning gets the hold.

I did take out that pitcher. He only pitched the fourth inning, so it would be a typical save situation (final 3 innings in 9 inning games, no matter the score). So, if its a save situation, a hold situation works for anyone taken out. Not sure what happened there. I can't figure out how it works for 3 and 6 inning games.

In an Event game, pretty sure a pitcher has to pitch at least one full inning WITH the lead to get the Win.

For a HOLD, a pitcher has to pitch at least to 3 batters when coming in with the W already registered and not giving up the lead.

A Save I think, for an Event game, is when a pitcher other than the Starter or anyone that came in after the starter and DIDNT give up the lead leaves the game and they have to pitch at least the last 3 outs with a 3 run or less lead OR get the final out of the game with at least the tying run on base.

Before MLB implemented the 3 batter min rule, you used to be able to being a pitcher in for one batter, with the lead and as long as you got that batter out; you were credited with a Hold.

So technically if you were playing a 3 inning game and took the lead in the 1st inning, as long as the next 3 pitchers made one out each, in the second inning, they each for a Hold. They the pitcher that came in during the third inning got the Save if it was and run or less game.

Now, unless you go into extras, losing the lead, or you luck out and have a pitcher come in during the last out if an inning, and relieving him after two hours of the next inning, you can get only one Hold per game.

Whenever I'm trying to get holds, I use the guy I want the hold with as my third pitcher to ensure that he's not going to be in line for the win instead of the hold. For instance, if I take a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning, I'd go:

    1st inning - Starter
2nd inning - entering with the lead - Reliever 1 (gets the win) gets two outs. Intentionally walk the third guy, then bring in Reliever 2 (enters in a hold situation - only needs one out to complete the inning and register the hold).

Also, with respect to the daily missions, if a Hold or save is needed, make sure to use a RP or CP to get it. Holds or Saves won't count in Daily Missions if a SP gets the H or S.

I know the rules for 9-inning games. Was
More wondering if anyone knows exactly what they are for the 3- and 6-inning games.

Currently have some hold daily missions.

You’d have had to use 4 pitchers. Starter didn’t go 5 so reliever became pitcher of record for a 6 inning game.

In a 6 inning game, the pitcher pitching the 4th inning is the pitcher of record. Save and hold requirements are the same from 5th inning on
