Why do you keep playing this game? Seriously man...You post like 10 threads a day bashing the game yet you KEEP PLAYING IT. Did it ever dawn on you to try a different game? Maybe you will find one that doesn’t frustrate you & that you ACTUALLY ENJOY PLAYING. It’s almost Thanksgiving, SDS isn’t doing anymore big fix updates - THIS is the game you’re stuck with until 21 drops. If you don’t like it then try something else. This constant crying is just ridiculous man.

That is how SDS respond to complaints of too many home runs and too much overpowered offense. They nerf good swings.
While I do not think SDS did that, it is amusing how people complain about too many HR's then complain when they do not get a home run.
-
Alot of it has to do with the "DYNAMICAL" difficulty programmed in the game. As you advance levels and play more they expect you to be perfect and your only going to get rewarded 1 outta 4 times just like real baseball. Is it aggravating sure it is, should you go postal over it probably not its just a video game

I've had perfects with Griffey and Soto the past two nights that didn't go out. Soto's actually hit the fence cause the guy misplayed it. Griffey's died at the front of the warning track. Had good timing with the PCI on the top dot with Mantle and Freeman and neither even made the warning track. Then I hit a HR with Cobb on a pitch I was early on and my PCI not even touching the ball. The hitting engine in this game is so terrible online. It doesn't seem to be this way offline. Unless you're doing showdown/moments.

More than happy not to get a home run. But if I swing early out in front, I’ll probably get one. Should I time my swing perfectly and put the pci dead center on the ball, my chances decrease significantly. That’s the actual complaint here.

I'm not too thrilled when I get hold of one and it doesn't go, but there's something that bothers me even more than that. And that's when I get a perfect/perfect, and it's foul. I'm like "what the h ell do you mean it's foul. How could I possibly have done better than that". Now that's some messed up ****.

My issue is that there just isn't enough hit variety in the game, and by hit variety, I mean base hits. There are plenty of variety of balls in play. Outs happen all kind of random ways. Actual base hits, seem to be predominately low liners, ground ball singles through the infield, or a HR.
If you (not you, but people in general) played MLB 17, one of the big selling points was hit variety. You saw the ball actually have a hook/slice to it when pulled early/slapped late hard down the lines. You saw grounders, liners, and fly balls do it. This lead to more doubles into the corners of the OF and even triples. Add in that you saw a ball actually burn an OF that was smoked into the top of the wall or into a gap. They patched it after the first week like they normally do because they said there was too much hook/slice on the ball, but they've never really tried to reimplement this. Now, the only line drives that find the grass in the OF have to be 108+ mph and split the defenders perfectly!
This is not realistic. Even guys like Mookie, KK, Buxton and other elite defenders cannot get to every single ball. The game is far too reliant on HR or bust. I realize baseball has gotten that way to some extent, the Rays barely scored when it wasn't a HR in the playoffs, but that's also why they lost the WS. The Dodgers got base hits with 2 outs. They moved runners over and kept innings alive. I don't want to see HR on every input, but I want to see legit hits on good, great, solid, and perfect inputs.

Maybe perfect/perfect should be an out even more often if not hit hard enough or at the right angle to be a HR. The fielders are standing where the most hits should go after all. It’s only deviations from perfect that allow for the ball not to go right at someone. Teams examine statistically where players usually hit the ball and that is where they stand waiting. It could be argued that any non HR hit ball should often be not perfect in order to succeed. Even HRs. Like down the line. But a perfectly hit ball should never be foul.

Exactly. At this point, a lot of my perfect perfect cannot find grass. Perfect perfect grounders : easy play for the second base for an easy out. Perfect perfect liners : directly at the third baseman for an easy standing catch. Perfect perfect fly balls : the ball cannot even reach the warning track even with 125 power. This game is driving me insane.

I didn't mean that they designed the game that way, they didn't. Just presenting an argument one can make for perfectly hit balls. They do not always need to be hits to be realistic. That said, I HATE it when my perfect/perfect are not hits! lol

I know you didn’t, I was being sarcastic. That said, SDS made a big deal about the new perfect/perfect mechanic and how we’d all be batting .833 on perfect swings, perfect swings with hitters above 80 power was a guaranteed this or that. What is the sense in that hype over perfect swings when they’re usually not hits and you yourself have stated they should be hits even less often due to defensive positioning! The whole thing is therefore rendered kind of pointless. Why though? Why don’t SDS buff pitching or make it harder to make solid contact, instead of nerfing batted ball outcomes on perfect swings?
My view is they went into the year overly focused on the incessant complaints over hitting not being rewarding enough. In order to highlight just how rewarding hitting can be when you do everything right, they implemented the perfect swing, complete with the meaty crack of the bat, set perfect swings to be rewarded at an extremely high rate and called it the best hitting has ever been. Super rewarding. Then they realised that as Ramone told us on stream, “Nobody is a good hitter, none of you can hit as well as you think.” Therefore, they added a few pitching nerfs (Random hangers, no called strikes on the black etc) in order to prevent players from using pitching as an effective weapon, so that everyone could hit a lot of perfect swings and feel how rewarding hitting was this year.
To further support this line of thinking, every pitcher I used early in the year was dumped due to their horrific stats. Kluber became totally unusable for me due to his 5+ ERA and some of the lesser SP we had to start the year, such as prospect Felix and some LS SP were sporting ERA in the range of 10.00!!! Having seen the data from the early stages of play, SDS were quick to adjust via “The Patch That Broke Hitting” that we all hear about (“The game played great at launch, then SDS ruined it!”), but the ball was in play at that point. The game had been designed with one thing in mind, offensive output and everyone being in love with the new, ultra rewarding hitting system. While there could and indeed, would, be adjustments that could be made, the elements to the gameplay that had been designed to buff hitting and finally stop the complaints about hitting not being rewarding enough were firmly baked in.
When they finally realised it was a bust yet again and people were still complaining about nonsensical feedback and so on, they decided to overhaul the swing feedback mechanic and tell everyone they were swinging with good timing, despite the fact that most players with experience know very well when they’ve swung early or late. The result? They’re so keen to convince you that the game is working just fine and as intended, you can even hit a perfect/perfect foul ball now. Practically every ball put in play now falls within the good timing median, no matter if it’s pulled, hit oppo, or even yanked foul. I’d say hitting and hitting feedback has never been in a worse place, despite the fact that the in game information provided by SDS suggests that we’re doing everything just right. As an experienced DD player, I know exactly what’s happening and the feedback telling me otherwise does not change what I know to be simple facts, like the fact I was early or late on a swing the game insists was good timing.

Yep, I'd love to see the game require strategy. IMO, they need to remove the 125 rating system. Go back to a 99 or 100 cap. Give position players with EXCEPTIONAL abilities outlier quirks like pitchers have, and by exceptional, I mean only guys who truly deserve. Babe Ruth could have a HR or power outlier that adds more power. Ricky Henderson would have a speed outlier that gives him a boost with speed and probably a stealing bases outlier. This lets cards stand out and allows them to play to their strengths. Current day cards could get these too, but they would need the stats from the previous season to support giving it to them and if they deserve a rating dip because they aren't playing well, they lose the outlier quirk. If they did this and adjusted the hitting engine the game, from an offensive standpoint would feel so much better.
