Don't bring back Prestige/Blood Diamond for 21.

Particularly when the card you've spent all that time on isn't even that players final form. Its like going Super Saiyan, then realizing an Ultra Instinct version exists.
But seriously, I get that Helton, Chipper, were first inning program cards, 7 months ago. But you can't help but feel a void when you locked in said card, achieved the middling stat requirements to get this version, and towards the end, didnt mean jack dookie anyway.
Shouldn't be more than 1 version of a legend.
I was with you until the last sentence. I agree that having multiple high level diamonds for the same legend is lame, but I like having the lower level rookie, breakout, veteran type cards early on. They’re not too OP and are usually on par with high level live series cards. It’s also nice being able to play with some version of a legend if the top tier is out of reach. I’m thinking Goose Gossage last year. Not a chance in hell I was going to complete that final level of moments extreme that late in the year, but I had a lot of fun with the boss version that was released in the first inning.
-
I would like/try Prestige if you could build them offline. I’m a terrible online player, plus I routinely need to stop/pause as the household demands and that doesn’t work in live games. Make it so that the stats only count on games in HOF and Legend, fine, whatever... just don’t make the only option an online grind.
-
Yea they definitely botched prestige this year. It made sense for some players like Dave Roberts, to give em that little boost. And for most of the monthly’s, since you actually have to use the prestige version to get more rewards. But it’s certainly an insult in the other cases you stated, when they become obsolete.
-
Just like 2K....said it all year long.
-
Was Prestige really worth it though?
Off the top of my head, I think I only have 1 Prestige Card (Brett) out of 5 or 6 Prestiged players who has better stats than regular card, and the difference isn't even that significant. I'll toggle between regular and Prestige W. Johnson, but the others I don't even use, not even on my bench. I'm pretty sure I can't be alone in this.
-
I may be in a minority here, but can there be an offline method to prestige a card next year, if they keep the concept? I don't mind if it's more stats, but I simply don't get enough time to play online that much and like my gaming experience to be somewhat relaxing. Lol
-
For me, I find it frustrating, because I'll play online and people quit. I'm like great now I can't use that pitcher for a few games until his energy is back to full. I would like it be offline/online. You could do instead of 100 ip online, make it 200 offline, 150 hits online make it 250 hits online or something along those lines. I didn't mind the grind in 18, just hated the exchanges.

I guess what I'm referring to are cards like Chipper, Mo, Helton, etc. Maybe I should rephrase it to say they should only have 1 diamond version.
But I mean, [censored] man, in 17 Griffey had 3 different diamond versions. I remember complaining about it then too lol.

I agree. I don't want to prestige a card if there is going to be a new one soon!
I am guessing that, due to the content creators enjoying the prestige, they will keep it. IMO -
I wish they would put the prestige for offline stats as well because I don't play online as much and I would definitely have a few prestige guys now with the off line play I do.
-
The bad part is some of these Prestige card grinds you'll play with the regular version more than you will with the better prestige version.
Prestige online only and locking cards into inventory were goofs IMO. I don't like any scenario where my progress remains at the hands of another user. I hit the HR but a fool dashboards and I get nothing.
-
I think we will get offline prestige next year, I also think they’ll fix the market so we don’t have chipper and Ramos situations, they do listen to the community, whether we think so or not, they gave us a catcher secondary with Foxx, they fixed immortals... They’ll have this fixed or figured out.

What do you suggest they do for offline? Statistically? Accumulate 5X more than online? 10x?

Not a goof. If they're going to give you an updated version of they card, they're not going to let you sell off the old version.

Yeah I'm okay with that requirement.

I'm not talking about locking in for Prestige. I'm talking about locking cards in general and having multiple dupes of unsellable cards.

Bingo. I like the prestige aspect of the game IF they can somehow work around the dashboarding issue as has been beaten like a dead horse on this forum.
Inning Bosses should be BOSSES. I've played video games since the 80's and in the VG world bosses mean the head honcho, top man, the end all be all. At Hanley Ramirez and Bob Feller to that list.
I am sure there are others like me but my Events and RS lineups are almost always based on prestiging players. If I had known the cards listed above were not their top cards this season I definitely would have worked on prestiging others instead.

Honestly, I like prestige, plus it's not like you didn't know that the 1st inning Helton wasn't going to be useable at this stage, you locked him in knowing that. I enjoy the stat grinds and while the prestige concept could use a few tweaks, I would love them bringing it back next year.
Only if we revert to a single card per legend. Make that adjustment and I'd agree.
The Smoltz brothers would like a word with you in private...
need to specify the Smoltz triplets. I don't count that lower diamond that was essentially given to everyone.

It was pretty obvious though that those cards were going to get upgraded versions later, it wasn't a secret, that's how it was for early 2019 bosses to.
