Anyone Else Having Baserunning Issues? (SDS??)
-
Ruth got himself tagged out at second when he hit a line drive. He clearly couldn't have made it, but I couldn't stop him because I had a runner on third who was scoring. I could've done more damage but Ruth's idiocy ended the inning for me.
This has only started happening recently for me, and I'm wondering if a recent patch or something screwed up the baserunning AI.
For those of us who use automatic baserunning, are you noticing similar occurrences? If so, please respond to this thread and describe what happened. Link a gameplay clip if possible. I'd like to have SDS look into this issue as a possible AI bug.
Thanks!

Gotta use the base running mode that allows you to choose which base to stop your runners at. Using L1 and R1 is are going to get you in trouble every time.

What is that mode or option? That's something I need to learn because using L1 and R1 have been killing me.

I have a brand new controller, so I don't think the buttons are sticking...but for some odd reason even when you're legging out a double it shows 3B before you round second. If you hit R1 to stop it from going to 3B, it jumps directly to 1B and send him back. Same thing with runners on. I know there is a way to take control of the individual runners, but never learned how to do it exactly.

It’s in the base running options. Can’t remember what it’s called but it’s under that tab.

I have it on auto. I tried L1 and R1, but I'm terrible at it. Auto has served me pretty well until now.

It doesn't matter because there are still issues even when using 'Assist' baserunning decisions.
Just played a game where I hit a gapper with Chris Taylor and Carew on 1st base, held down L1 until Carew rounded 2nd, then told Carew to head home individually to keep Taylor at 2nd and saw that Carew's ring lit up so I know he got the command. He would have scored easily, but for whatever reason after rounding 3rd base, the game forced him to go back to 3rd and got tagged out.
There are other issues like baserunners diving back to bases unnecessarily on ground balls and line drives or just freezing on balls hit to the gap or off the wall, for example. It's like AI baserunners have no clue at times
But yeah, when you use 'Auto' on baserunning decisions, you're basically doubling down on bad things to potentially happen.

Had the weirdest moment yesterday never touched the controller after a hit bases loaded no outs in the 9th 2nd baseman went back to 1st then tried to get him back then 3rd went home and so on which ended in a triple play lol

Use classic (buttons and d-pad) for best experience. May take a little while to get used to it but it will be a game changer.

I've never tried using auto baserunning, but using L1 and R1 is absolutely horrible. You have to control each runner manually by pointing the left stick at them and choosing which base you want them to run to.
For example if you have a guy on 1st and rip one into a gap and you think he can score push the left stick towards where he's at and push X and you want your better to get to 2nd push the left stick towards him and push triangle.
Hope this helps.

I've been having this problem for months. My runners keep rounding second and going to third even though I let go of L1 when the runner is still less than halfway between 1st and 2nd. If I let go any earlier, the runner goes back to 1st.
Initially I thought my controller was sticking so I switched to my other controller and it does the same thing. This also only happens online for me - offline I have no problems at all.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.
In previous games auto worked well, but I guess they botched it this year
