What's the point of "Perfect Pitch release"?
-
I use the pitch meter and what's the point of timing it perfectly where the feedback box says "Perfect pitch release" if the pitcher still misses the target and instead of nailing that corner of the zone you aimed for it's a ball couple inches off the plate??

Pitching is so jacked up this year. Even last year when they started moving towards more of the RNG pitching inputs, I could figure out where I needed to release the ball as far as early/late or left/right of the release points (analog) to get the ball to go where I wanted to. This year it's totally random. One game FOTF Oriel is dotting everything where I throw it. Next game my inputs don't matter, he simply is going to hang 6-10 meatballs. It's super frustrating, especially against when that's the only reason your opponent hangs in games.

It gives you the best odds at hitting your spot, it's still rng based though.

The part the frustrates me the most is the area just outside the zone seems nonexistent to my pitchers. I’m either on the black which gets crushed by a good hitter, or 6 inches inside/outside/low. The amount of “perfect” release curveballs I had yesterday and the amount the weren’t even competitive is a bit annoying sometimes.

Curveballs are almost useless in this years game. If you have it, you've gotta throw it a few times, but typically if you throw it more than 5 times in a game it seems like you're asking to have a pitch deposited into the bleachers. They're either easy takes out of the zone or meatballs.

Agreed! The curveball overall is my least favorite breaking pitch, period whether IRL or in the game it's the hardest one to control. The "Slider" and "Splitter" are the best IMO and my favorite breaking pitches!!

I hear you but I used it as an example, I still find the other secondaries insanely difficult to go where I want consistently. I can’t locate a slider inside unless it’s low, anything zone high and inside seems impossible for me, and is usually a hit by pitch or a forced jump out of the way animation. On the exact corner I can hit, which seems like a great spot but people can easily jam the PCI there, if I want it up a bit, or let’s say middle of the zone and slightly inside so people need to place it instead of just jamming down and left/right I can try all day and it doesn’t happen. Change up outside corner is the same, in the zone for a dinger or 4 feet low, there is just no middle ground.
It used to be just Scherzer but now I’m struggling with everyone.

Totally understand the frustration and I agree with you. My only thing was that curveballs seem like the most useless of any breaking pitch. I've pretty much given up on trying to back door a slider because they hang too much as well.

I think next year they will change pitching to add the perfect/perfect be 90-95% of the time be where you place the ball before pitch.

FYI, splitter is a fastball not breaking. so it fastball quirks that work with/against it

you are missing the big point - no pitcher has 100% accuracy - as long as you strive for perfect meter pitching as much as possible you will do great
