Self-Assessment - PCI placement skills
-
I'll give myself a B-, I think I'm slightly above averageish. Definitely still have a lot to work on, I can hit the high fastball, but that's because I sell out for it and often can't get to the changeup low
-
Placement skills B+. Ability to read a ball below the zone...F-
-
Its all about pitch speed, on rookie, its probably A-. On Veteran it is probably B-. On AS and above C-.
In Events on AS a C. In RS C- or D+
-
Against sinkers?
Super F
-
id say to begin the year i was a D, but with getting a monitor instead of my tv im at about a C- now still lots of room to grow especially on just being patient and not swinging and sliders low or when its lefty lefty not swinging at obvious sliders way out away .
-
Low pitches, B+.
High pitches, D+
Stuff right down the middle, Z- -

Stuff right down the middle, Z-i feel ya i have no idea why my left thumb always moves the PCI down when im getting a pitch right down the middle i miss id say 90% if down the pipe fastballs and its a killer
-
Probably a D, but I just started taking zone seriously this year. It's insanely hard which makes all the YouTubers w perfect reactions even more annoying to watch lol
When I'm "on" I can hit fastballs but breaking stuff in the lower 3rd still gets me. I can't ever be on both a fastball and changeup even if I know what's coming 100%
Another thing is that I'm constantly tinkering w the hitting settings. Right now I'm trying out the flick instead of buttons to hit. Also trying to turn the PCI off. Who knows man, just throwing [censored] against the wall
But I enjoy slowly improving so it's fun

Herman Edwards said it beat when he was coaching in the nfl, you play to win the game. Boom tatis helped increase the odds they would win.

Stuff right down the middle, Z-Lol. Same here dude. Down the middle I still feel like I need to move the PCI.
Overall I'd say a B. My weakness I'd say is Up & In when batting RH. And I have a hard time adjusting for sinkers by default moving the PCI lower than usual to get under it.

Stuff right down the middle, Z-Speaking the Truth right here! LOL I swear, I barely twitch my thumb down and my PCI shoots to the bottom of the Zone. Try to get up to High Fastball. Dang thing doesn't move an inch! Heck I've tried to go up and away and my PCI says i went down and away sometimes.
-
A+ for pci placement except for some reason the pitches don't understand that and go to other places. In actuality probably a C or so grading on the SDS curve a B+
-
D-. I still got credit, but may need to repeat the course if I need to utilize it within my major.
-
B+ for reading pitches and timing, D- for being able to move the Pci with grace lol
Alot of times when i swing i have good swing timing but for some reason I can't get my brain to understand that I don't need to slam the let stick up, down, left, or right. I'm not real sure how to train myself to move it gently

I officially give @Moldythugnasty a solid B+ in his PCI placement. I just played him online, and he blasted anything I threw in the zone. I wish I'd read his post BEFORE we played. I would have focused more on the lower 3rd...
If he broke double digits in runs, I would have given him an "A". But he "only" scored 9. So... room for improvement

Mine depends on game lag.

Thank you man, that's very nice
And yep, I basically only hit the high heat you threw and a couple hangers that came right to the middle. Plus couple walks thrown in
Actually you got hosed by the quick counts more than me I would say...

I give myself a B+ on placement

When the game engine (AI script) says I'm an "A"..I'm an "A".
So, my answer is it's based on the storyline the engine dictates. During the course of a single game I can get repeated "very late" on high pitches. Then suddenly that inning comes along that the code changes the script. I can then take the same swing and actually get "early" on the high-heat from the same pitcher throwing the same speed.
You've had to see this play-out in the Showdowns and Moments. You might play the same match 5 times and the first 4 times you can't hit anything...then suddenly you can't miss anything. It's not really that much different in RS. It's just in RS the AI has to generate outcomes for 2 players. Probably a coding nightmare, but they've done a decent job of giving some semblance of "real".
You see, in this game, the feedback you get is all computer generated. The vibration in the controller that suggests a perfect/perfect contact...maybe even throws the 'ol perfect/perfect text up on the screen. It's all determined by code, not the player or your reaction time.
Sure, there is a little prerequisite that you have to swing somewhere in the general direction of the general direction the pitch is coming in. But at that very moment the code (operating much quicker than our eye could even begin to follow) makes the decision on everything else. And, based on the outcome the script is pushing you'll see animation that sort of represents the bat-to-ball contact you would expect sometimes. It's very loose though.
And, perhaps lag has something to do with it. Don't know if that's worse, from a marketing perspective, than just flat-out manipulation of the game outcomes by code. We'll never know.

Why do you still bother then? if its solely the code and nothing you do does anything.
