I get that he deserves 99 cards and that that card is likely endgame, but how did they possibly go 2 years in a row where a usable Pujols isn’t in the game until very near the end of the life cycle? Last year I had already stopped playing The Show by the time he was announced as a boss, and this year we’re through 6 innings and he hasn’t been a boss and there’s no sign that he will show up anytime soon. Would have loved for him to have a low to mid 90s card earlier in the game this year then a 99 towards the end like they’re doing with Chipper.

(Yes, I know there’s the diamond rookie Pujols - that’s a dramatically different card than the one I want)

That lower diamond Pujols is not usable in my opinion...I was hyped for it and it gave me nothing.

I think a lot of the problem with people wanting the big names now is that they think we are already at the end of the life cycle. We are only halfway

Exactly, whereas if they released Ruth, Ted, Albert and Chipper too early, there wouldn’t be anything necessarily to work on

More people play the game early in the game cycle though. They could release some of the big names earlier in the game cycle instead of waiting every year and release them late in the cycle.

They could spread them out easily and release some of them earlier though. Ted wasn't a starter on most squad once he was released last year because there was similar alternative with much better defense at that stage.

Pujols is probably a first ballet hof guy but he doesn’t really move the needle like Griffey or others so he gets pushed down the priority list

True, but the last time they released the big names earlier was in 18 and the game was a ghost town in august/september. Casuals and hardcore players alike pretty much quit as soon as they were all released

I just want to point out that during a games life cycle the most amount of people playing a game (any game) will most assuredly be on day one. After that there will be a precipitous drop off of people playing the game (any game). The reason they wait to include big name cards until the end is that it gives the dedicated fan base something to look forward to. Sorry to say this but SDS really doesn’t care about the casual guy who plays two months and then puts the game away until the following spring training. All you are to them is 50-100 bucks in sales. They are not going to cater to those that they consider to casual gamers. They are more concerned with pleasing their competitive base. I’m sorry if this is slap in the face but it’s reality.

Nailed it 100%. It’s mostly those that play The game year round that dump the most money into it

    Not always.

I don't have the metrics to back it up (though I'm sure SDS does) but it feels like the user base grew exponentially last year in October when The Show was PSN+'s Freebie of the Month.

That game was terrible though. Also, i'm not saying they should release them all at the same time like in 2018. They should just spread them out more in order to release some of them earlier.
