High fast ball..fix it please
-
There are a few other threads about the inability of the posters and crapload of others that replied to hit high fast-balls. I agree it's like a spam. I've actually put the pci at the top of the zone and started my swing at various times to test it, and it truly is not allowed by the AI.
When AI is in shut-down mode it just dictates all fast balls over 98 mph to be impossible put put into play. Many other unusual things in AI shut-down mode, but it is very consistent with no fastballs put in play. And also the prolific "swung-through it" for most many other pitches.
Some have said this is possible with a monitor as opposed to TV? Why would a gaming company ever condition their software based on display? Doesn't sound logical, but anything is possible I suppose.

The prob isnt really the fastball it is the sinker, it shouldn't have that much break to it when thrown high in the zone or above the zone
-
I look for high in the zone fastballs and hit a good amount of my home runs

Yeah, I've hit a few myself. I've had games where I've swung through high-middle and crushed 100 mph fastballs that were above the top of the box. When the AI is being charitable, anything is possible.
On the other hand, when the AI puts on the hitting brakes the first thing you'll see is those blazing fastballs can't be put into play.
-
Your conspiracy theories are funny.
Anyway, there’s no issue with high fastballs. I can’t stand people that throw high sinkers though. That is so broken.
-
Get a monitor.

Yup you have to online. It sucks i get embarrassed by change ups and curves, but if you dont sell out for high heat, you cant hit it in RS. Vs the CPU on legend i can hit about anything. Its just something wonky about pitch speeds in RS. And to top that off, i have seen it easier to hit vs different players, even though they were using the same card.

So because you can't hit a high fastball something needs to be done about it by the devs? wouldn't the thing to be done be practice?

No..when the word impossible because AI imposes this restriction...practice does not help.
Here is the deal, once you put a certain amount of hours in learning zone hitting you have got it. It's not brain surgery, it's not all this scientific rhetoric you hear. It's simply watching the pitch as it leaves the pitcher's hand, following the pitch, swinging at the pitch at the proper time. Once you learn zone it's simply...see ball hit ball...there is no more practicing.
IF you've played 100 innings on HOF mode...there is no more practicing that's going to make you any better. Either you have the reflexes and eye-hand-coordination or you don't.
Then the AI control takes over. And, regardless of the arguments, practice does not allow you to cross barriers and pitfalls within the code. AI runs this game not us humans.

This whole post couldn't be any more wrong, I dont even know where to start so im just gonna say it's generally all wrong. You can always get better from more practice, also 100 innings is a rather minimal amount of innings to be thinking you're an expert now.

I still think the real issue here is the inconsistency of pitch speeds throughout the modes.
Obviously, hitting is about making adjustments, having good approach, practice, etc. That said, from mode to mode, difficulty to difficulty, and to some extent, opponent to opponent and ballpark to ballpark, the timing windows, sliders, and pitch speeds vary quite a lot.
IMO, all but the most dedicated players that spend a LOT of time playing this game can master all of those variables, and even among those players (streamers, etc) there is still quite a lot of negativity regarding gameplay.
If the game played consistently across modes and difficulties, I don’t think pitch speed would be as much of an issue.
-
I just foul it off over and over again. Eventually a pitch drops.

My man, I consider myself an upper tier maybe even elite player. I have put in thousands of hours into this franchise throughout the years, not even kidding. And although I can hit that fastball pretty consistently, there are still times they blow by me. I'm not Superman after all. So even after all these hours and hours of play and practice, it's still not a given I will hit that pitch whenever I want. But whenever I don't hit it, that's not on the game or the CPU, that's on me.
-
Of all the things that people continue to call “cheese,” the one thing I keep coming back to are high sinkers. So broken. That to me is the real cheese.
-
High fastballs get blown by MLB players every game, so seems pretty realistic that you can't hit every single one. Buy a monitor

Really? High sinkers are great to hit against. The ball sinks right into my PCI and if I time it well I can crush it much more often than a high 4 seam

Well it was an actual thing that they patched in the past, was either MLB 18 or 19 don't remember

No it would be easier to get hits if the game rewarded you for pci placement. If I’m using a power hitter and I good good the ball, pci top line, diamond or circle on the ball it shouldn’t come off at a lower speed then the fastball thrown

It would truly be great if the game rewarded you for pci placement. Even greater if it didn't randomly animate the placement somewhere you didn't place it to create some scenario that wasn't there. I've actually not touched my controller (now this is rare) and the AI would animate my swing being slightly right and high to justify the 'ol "he swung through that one".
It just do what it want do do.
