I think this post was a mistake. Online only is the only way it should be. You shouldn't be given any of these prestige cards. I take pride when I get to hit with my prestige Mantle, Biggio, Ellsbury, Gary, Belli, and Chipper.

And had they been ranked only you would have a point, but once they were allowed in events any argument about skill and challenge went away.

Eh prestige looked fun when they first announced it, it was a nice lil mini game or bonus but now it's meh, it's lost it's pazazz so to speak. I almost have mantle and bigg prestiged which will be my first two with no boosting. Hell I just played a guy who had 6 prestige players in his lineup. Lmao

I honestly don't get why so many who play this game feel the need to divide themselves up into camps and make a big rivalry out of everything. Everything doesn't have to be a binary choice. Does no one else but me enjoy both online and offline, and switch back and forth between the two depending on their mood?

I understand the logic of making prestige online only because online play is generally harder and the prestige cards are meant to be a long grind for the average player, but i'm also one of the few wierdos who actually enjoyed racking up stats against the computer in 18 so I propose an alternate solution that embraces both play styles.

Why not just have two separate groups of prestige cards: one that can only be done offline and another that can only be done online? Each group could have their own unique fan favorites ( like maybe griffey could only be presitged online while babe ruth could only be presitged offline ) so everyone has something to grind for, and the true diehards would be rewarded for being willing to step outside of their comfort zones by playing both online and offline to prestige everything.

They could even use this idea to make inning programs more interesting by expanding the choice packs to four ( two online prestige, two offline ) and adding an extra layer of complexity to the decision, because you now have to consider your preferred way of playing the game in addition to just position needs or attributes.

I use events to grind TA innings and prestige player's, but I don't just hit or pitch and quit. But that's not the problem.
The problem is people dashboarding on the 3 run shot by Sheffield that doesn't count because of people with Anger Management Issues!! Lol

It may not be anger management. If you throw my prestige guys nothing to hit when I am grinding them (ie I don’t care about wins, so I’m not taking the walk), I may not let yours get stats either.

The reason they made them online only is to force players to pay for PS plus if you want to get the best cards in the game. I have played more online this year than last year but that is because if not you are having to play teams on all star for 9 inning games just to get 8 points towards a players programs plus then you have program stars tied directly towards those players for online play online.

This all boils down to the fact that SDS is sony and they get money for people playing online.

Not even close to being true lmao. Best cards in the game? I would take Regular mickey mantle over every single card in the game other than his prestige. I would take non prestigable Dibble and Chapman over prestige Rivera in a heartbeat. ITS JUST + 3 to ATTRIBUTES, they are not that much better than their regular versions

To be clear I’m not arguing that it should be for online players only to get prestige cards, I hope they switch it to where you can do either just to shut some people up around here. I’m disputing the fact that they are the best cards in the game. The prestige versions are just the regular ones with a red sticker in the corner

I just think that offline players miss the stat grind that 17 and 18 gave us.

Prestiging players allows them to have that, they get to see the numbers pile up rather than grinding out innings for TA.
I was a mostly offline player, but I jumped into the event and I got hooked on racking up stats with guys like Mantle, Walker, and Sheff. So, I can see the appeal. And not everyone is good enough, confident enough or simply do not want to play online.

It was a bad idea from the beginning. I'm fine with having to get more stats than what the online ones are, but I accepted it from day one that I'd never prestige one of those players with it being online. I might could get a pitcher...maybe..., but the batters, I suck too bad to ever get those amounts of hits and rbi's etc.

I read that thinking that prestige Mantle>Mantle, prestige Rivera>Rivera, etc. So I would say that they are they best versions of those players cards.

In order to use the best version of Mantle, you have to play online. That's how I read it. (Personally, I dont think the +3 is that huge of a deal, but people want to use the best versions of the cards)

Very true some prestige cards are going to play better than others I would say prestige Walker is going to be better than prestige Snider.

And I get that, but iv’e said from the get-go that the mistake wasn’t necessarily that prestige was online only, but it was making them separate cards. If you got a +3 boost that worked like IE on these cards I don’t think we would be having these discussions. The problem is that people are brainwashed to think for example a 99 dante bichette is better than the 97 Bichette when the fact is the +3 for contact, vision, discipline, bunting, drag bunt, arm accuracy/strength, reaction, and speed/stealing don’t do anything but boost a players overall. The +3 to fielding is helpful only when a card jumps a tier in fielding( which is most of the time but a 76 to a 79 wouldn’t be useful). +3 to power only makes a difference to the weirdos that think 80 power is a requirement to be useful

And now apparently stats aren’t even registering for Ortiz (something that is far more important when stats are online only)

@GradektheBard said in SDS, Time to Admit Online Only Prestige Was a Mistake:

It is time for SDS to admit that having the prestige grinds be online only was a big mistake and move them to any mode (ie offline included) within the next update or two. The prestige grind has completely ruined events with a huge swath of people playing just for prestige (ie hitting and quitting, pitching and quitting, or just outright asking for stats), which has taken the fun out of events and made them into nothing more than grinding opportunities.

The idea that it takes more skill and/or time to prestige a card online went out the window as soon as these cards were included in events and thus allowing people who prefer to play offline wouldn’t change any dynamic in the prestige process other than to clean up events AND likely make a ton of their customers very happy.

Forcing people to play online to prestige cards didn’t work and it’s past time to rectify this mistake and move all these grinds to any mode.

What's that you say? Sds ruining something?
