I know a lot of cutters are slower than their 4 seam fastballs but the difference is sometimes pretty small and there's just something about cutters that make me swing earlier than I would if it was a fastball.

Take someone like Kluber, his sinker, 4 seam, and cutter are all pretty similar speeds but while I'll be late or on time to most sinkers and 4 seamers, for whatever reason I'm often early or very early on cutters.

That’s the purpose of the pitch.

A cutter comes in looking like a fastball, meaning you want to time it was a fastball, but it is in reality slower

Cutter is the best pitch in the game imo. All my starters have one. So good.

Only outside ones. In all of the events games I’ve played today I got 3 cutters down the middle and hit 2 out.

I understand that but im saying that they speed up my bad more than a fastball at the same speed. So for whatever reason I'll consistently be early on 95 mph cutters but late on 95 mph 4 seamers/2 seamers/sinkers even if they come from the same pitcher. My issue is not with the speed of the pitch being slower causing me to be early, it's just that I swing earlier on cutters than I would on a fastball of the exact same speed.

To answer other comments, cutters outside are worse than inside for me but I'm early on both. I also know people complain about sinkers but the only pitch I find easier to hit consistently than sinkers are hanging sliders so I love facing sinkerballers

I know what you mean. Sometimes it feels Kluber’s slurve is the same speed as his cutter.

Yeah I gotcha, my bad - let me elaborate.

If you read the pitch as a fastball, you’ll think it’s farther in (righty on righty) than it really is. So you’ll be timing your swing for an inside 95mph, but in reality you’ll be getting an outside 95mph. The timing difference is very minuscule, but it’s there. This usually leads to being early and rolling over
