This game is just a dumpster fire

It’s not even about winning or losing at this point (all I am really going for are the prestige stats anyways), but my god is gameplay awful.
My opponent gets guys on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. He hits a rocket down the line that my third baseman dives into the runner for one out and then throws across the diamond for the double play (I’ve never seen that in a real game)
I hit a perfect flyball with McCovey that is caught on the track, huh?
Every fifth pitch seems to go right down the middle regardless of input (and don’t even try to throw back to back curves out of the zone.
I had a 16 pitch ab with Reggie where I fouled off 11 pitches.
I hit a perfect perfect grounder through the hole between 2nd and 1st and Lofton doesn’t run to second.
And on and on it goes.
But the content has been absolutely amazing, especially considering baseball isn’t playing.

thanks for the fresh hot take

So don't play it. Another problem is solved. No charge for the first one.

Or they could fix it. I’ve noticed no one actually defends the gameplay anymore, have we all just decided to accept mediocrity?

You’re exactly right — no one defends the gameplay because there is no defense for it. But we have continuously complained for months and all we have seen are a couple upgrades to the miserable defense and very minor changes to hitting.
It’s not a matter of “accepting” mediocrity when we really have two options: 1) grit our teeth and play, or 2) don’t play.

I think hitting is fine for the most part. Some weird results sometimes considering the PCI placement, but overall I’d say it’s still better than 19.
Fielding still needs work but it’s at least playable. The Letting the ball drop in the outfield needs to be patched ASAP.
My biggest complaint is pitching. Sometimes it feels like I can’t throw a pitch anywhere but down the middle regardless of my input.
And the foul balls are ridiculous again. Seemed ok beginning of the year but it is just like 19 again.
The name of the game is foul off anything close over and over til the game forces one over the middle. Even the CPU does this.

I wouldn't say it's a dumpster fire, but fielding is still an issue These guys have no urgency and your ai does nothing to help. I know they can make your ai good. I have seen a lot of diving catches in Showdown.

It's weird how the AI defense is elite but if you're locked in a pitching mission your D will boot it all over the place. The AI defense will dive and stick it 99% of the time. But I noticed my defense will let it drop in front of them most of the time.

I’ve been playing less of the game and doing other things, maybe you should try that. If you don’t like it how come you have played SO MUCH?

It’s def a dumpster fire. I’ve never seen so much in my life. ‘19 wasn’t great but it was better than this. You know you’re screwed when a perfect/perfect is a out. It’s worse in lower ranks. I hate dropping down from the 700’s when the new season starts. I seriously lose my mind playing in the 500’s. It’s atrocious! I am done with the show after this year. Idc what legends they add. This is it for me

A dumpster fire? Wow, you guys are being nice. When it comes to gameplay in RS, it's more like a wildfire.
When I play MTO or against CPU, I can locate my pitches spot on, especially hitting corners for a strike with analog pitching. But with RS, it's an absolute joke with its inconsistencies. When aiming for a corner strike, and provide perfect input, pitches consistently forced over the middle of the plate, or sometimes will even pitch for a ball. More inconsistencies with hitting, it'll sometimes check when you swing, and sometimes it'll swing when you check. Outfielders purposely allowing fly balls to drop right in front of them when it should've been a routine popup. AI baserunners absolutely clueless diving back to the bag when they don't need to on base hits, etc. etc.
RS gameplay is where all the problems exist, that's where the wildfire is at. And instead of SDS dealing with the wildfire, they rather deal with the dumpster caught on fire in the parking lot where there are no parked cars, and no risk or threat to any surrounding buildings or structures. This is evident everytime they release an update patch that are always nonsensical and irrelevant to the real issues of this game.

I skipped the show 18 and 19 after playing 17 a lot. Were they as bad as 20? What happened to this franchise?

It’s not a matter of “accepting” mediocrity when we really have two options: 1) grit our teeth and play, or 2) don’t play.
This pretty much sums up my feelings. Earlier in the year, I was extremely vocal about the problems with the game. I recorded clips, submitted a ton of feedback with evidence and really tried to express exactly what I felt the problems were. I even had the cheek to offer my opinion on what would be an effective, common sense fix for some issues, despite not being vaguely qualified to offer advice on the subject of coding or game development.
As we got further along in the year and headed into May, it became apparent that the game wouldn’t be changing for the better and I realised I was wasting my time, it was too late in the year for anything significant to change the overall complexion of the game and I moved on to the “grit our teeth and play or don’t play” mentality. I’ve played a lot less this year than previous years and I would imagine that will continue to be the case as the year rolls on.
Yes, the content is okay this year. Problem being, I don’t really feel motivated to grind any of it. I haven’t even unlocked Mike Zunino in the first stage of the POTM program. I haven’t bothered to obtain Honus Wagner for the extra program stars. I stopped doing collections when I was a half dozen teams away or whatever and sold my high diamonds, because I don’t care about having Mickey Mantle/Craig Biggio/Gary Sheffield just like every other line up I face every day. The gameplay being terrible just drains your motivation to play, to grind, to bother at all. This is not an issue I’ve encountered since midway through ‘18, when again, the realisation hit home that this was it for the year and it sucked.
This year followed a similar path to ‘18 actually. I know we had a lot of patches, but the key are the patches that had a tangible effect on gameplay, but left the game ridiculously unbalanced. First we had everyone raking and pitching was terrible. Seeing this, SDS swung the pendulum to the opposite extreme, handing us 15-20 strikeouts per game due to the unreasonably narrow swing timing windows. Even on all star, sinkers were 150mph with lunatic break and the game played like [censored]. SDS waited around, twiddling their thumbs until the complaints got above three decibels and then swung their magic pendulum again. Waaaay across to the opposite extreme, of course. Now pitchers were irrelevant once again, games were played on the moon at Shippet and scored 290-310 with a combined 1102 hits, 600 of which were early/okay solo home runs. Why can’t they just balance the game? Why is it always either hitting or pitching being ridiculously OP?
I’ve mostly given up on this years game, I’ll play it when I do game, but I really couldn’t care less about the 99s coming, or more programs that it’s pointless to grind. What’s the point in grinding for cards when the game dictates random outcomes regardless of which players you’re using? I’m as likely to hit a tank with some scummy silver card as I am with a high diamond legend or flashback and don’t even get me started on new pitchers. New legend El Duque!!! Yeah and he’ll give up 30 homers in his first outing, just like every other pitcher. Bad gameplay = Bad game, no matter how good the content is.
