    Hello,

I have been feeling like an utter fool in Ranked lately. I try and locate a cutter down and in, and even though I get perfect on the meter, my Cutter goes right down the pipe and ends up on the moon. This is a never ending problem that is going to probably result in numerous new controllers bought in a month. Does anyone have any tips, am I doing something wrong here?

I think 90% of my cutters still haven’t landed yet. Unless that pitch is perfectly jamming an opposite handed batter for me, it’s an instant HR.

Although there is a ton of RNG with pitch location this year, trying to spot past where you want your breaking pitch to be can be helpful at times.

You are probably going to throw more balls, but less pitches down the middle. Trying to figure out your opponent can help decide if you want to do that.

Locating is only effective if you are keeping a hitter of balance. If you are constantly throwing low and away cutters the hitter can sit on it and crush it. If you mix you pitches move them up down in and out.

Also do not create a pattern. You have to mix up if you use a curveball as your out pitch that will only last so long before they realize a curve is coming on a 2 strike count

I have to know the pitchers break on that pitch and if it is not a good break it needs to be a little before or after not perfect perfect. I been using the meter since 2016, it seems if it is to much in the yellow it will be to much over the plate. same thing for Sliders if your are to early it is inside and later outside. Learn the pitchers you are using, If I throw slider outside I release just below the yellow on the meter. Practice vs the CPU with the pitchers you like and the pitches they throw to see how the pitches move and where and when you should release the pitch.

Yea, seems like timing the pitch meter "perfect release" it still doesn't hit he bullseye. Why call it "perfect" release if the location isn't?

Trial and error like someone above said, spot it a little further in our out depending on your pitcher. For me Feller needs me to aim a little further in, out, up down then I need to do with felix, or Kluber, also I stopped using the " Pitch trail" when pitching and switched to classic (the feedback with arrows) for some reason it feels like the pitch trail feedback is off and I hang more pitches that way.

pick the spot you want it to go, then move the marker to the opposite part of the strikezone, .then purposely miss the spot on the meter(Just early or Just Late Releas)...... this will end up in the original spot you wanted more times than a perfect or good release

Thank you to everyone who replied. To answer some people's question, I was using Kluber in the particular game where the moon was getting pelted with baseballs left and right. I tried to avoid a pattern and work the batters in and out, but the location of pitches just felt totally out of my control, especially in the first inning. Today was a good bounce back day, and I found myself back into the Pennant Race after getting knocked all the way back to All-Star last night.

Personally, I avoid the cutter like the plague. unless it's a 99 MPH cutter from a Kenley Jansen type, it will always get smashed. But that's just me. Even if they don't hang they seem to get belted. I stick to sliders if I'm trying to get someone chase out of the zone. Same way with Curveballs. (Regular Curveballs, 12-6 and Knucklecurves are a different story). I have better luck throwing those below the zone as opposed to trying to get them to chase low and away or even buckle their knees down and in.
