The showdown sliders need to go back to neutral

Noone ever wants to step back and go "maybe I'm in a slump" its always straight to "SDS programmed the game to hate me"

It’s not a slump though, it’s observational based on gameplay. Go into a play vs cpu game with the same team you have in showdown (and even without the perks) the gameplay is way better on the same difficulty level. I’m not complaining because I lost (I beat the AL twice yesterday), but because the gameplay is awful and different.

There's no argument that fielders are juiced in showdown but thats been known from the beginning. I agree with the people who say they haven't seen any difference. From my experience it hasn't changed.

They differently seem harder since the last update
Not really, no.
Not sure why you're so hell bent on pushing back against the majority that have the mental capacity to notice it.
You really think its the majority? The same 12 people are the ones posting about showdown being too hard. The showdowns at launch (1st inning and stage 1’s) were hard, but the loud MINORITY got it changed to be easier. I failed the 4th inning showdown 4 times. Not because it was hard, because it was my fault because I wasn’t focusing like I should. Just because showdown requires some patience and focus doesn’t mean that it is hard. It shouldn’t be so easy that you can beat it while watching netflix in the background
-
I have no issue with showdown being either easy or difficult, I would must like it to be fair. Low exit velocity on good/good or good /squared makes no sense. Hitting the ball near the top of the PCI shouldn't result in ground ball double plays, having the ball completely inside the PCI should never be good/popped and the worst of all the 110mph liners right down the line where the fielder dives and grabs it, while landing on the bag for a double play happens way too often.
-
@Hoofartid said in The showdown sliders need to go back to neutral:
Yeah, PCI placement seems to be essentially ignored at times. It's so inconsistent, though. Some moments everything is playing straight up and then the next one even P/P won't get you a positive outcome.
I'm definitely starting to get the "WTF else can I do?" deja vu I had with '19.
This! Good/Good barreled up in the middle of the PCI pop up in the infield. I failed the mini boss becasue I proceeded to ground into two good/good double plays. I still should have beat it but started pressing too hard at that point...

I think it is great that Drive By Trucker and other members of our community are good enough to overcome the sliders and randomized outcomes.
That said, denying that there is programming in the game to make it more difficult is not helpful.
I personally think it is pretty dishonest to say a challenge is one one difficulty, then to buff the sliders so it plays like another difficulty.
I play conquest quite a bit, usually on veteran and all star, never on rookie, occasionally on HOF. It is plain as day that showdowns play differently, that the difficulties have been buffed.
Sure, veteran is easy, but showdown veteran is not the same as veteran in other modes. The same is true for All Star, etc.
The difficulties need to be consistent. If showdowns are harder, make the difficulty harder.
As much as I respect guys like Drive By for their skills, accepting the inconsistencies of gameplay and ignoring the manipulation going on just validates it and says it’s ok.
IMO, it’s not ok to manipulate your customers by telling them one thing, then giving them another. If a car manufacturer did this, there would be lawsuits.

Bruh, I’m not even that good. I just don’t think Showdown is any more unfair than conquest, play vs CPU, or events. And I certainly haven’t noticed any changes from after the last patch.
-
I haven’t noticed any changes since the last patch either, but as I said, I think the difficulties need to be consistent across all the modes.
All Star online does not play at all like AS offline. Veteran moments do not play like veteran vs cpu, etc.
The thing about slider adjustment (if that indeed is the explanation) is that SDS can publish one thing then change it to another thing at any time, without us even knowing.
If that sounds like a conspiracy, well, so be it.

I fully agree that pitch speeds online are much faster than the same difficulty offline. That’s about it though.

Veteran moments have always felt like veteran difficulty to me. Same thing for all moments tbh.

Alright, that’s fair. My experience is different. Do you think it is important that the modes play consistently, difficulty-wise?
-
I've always chalked the discrepancies up to playing with silvers/bronze/commons in showdown, and rarely playing with them outside of that.

Yeah I think so. And to me, they do. I can’t speak for Ranked much though, since I only have like 7 games there.

How do you explain common and bronze pitchers dotting the strike zone and maintaining high confidence despite giving up walks and hits and runs? What about the diving catches and amazing double plays?

I guess I dont have an issue with this stuff. There are more sensational fielding plays made, that's a fact. The pitching is just pitching to me.
It's similar to me to Super Tecmo Bowl, when you would get that one game per season that the CPU would go God mode. It didn't matter what team you were playing against, they would be better, faster, stronger, and would catch every 50/50 ball. I suppose I grew up with this type of built in unfair gameplay and am not outraged when it happens to me now.

@GradektheBard said in The showdown sliders need to go back to neutral:
It is very obvious that SDS mucked with the showdown sliders in the last patch. Exit velocity is an absolute disaster (way worse than any other mode) and timing windows are incredibly small for “veteran”. We get it, your programmers are third rate, but if you put something on veteran let it play like veteran.
I hate to see it, but it seems that a certain president’s style of speaking has spread.

You’re right, this has been a thing in video games for a long time. It just seems to have gone to an extreme with the show in the last couple versions. I think since they introduced moments was when I first noticed things were off. Before that it was just when you got to a conquest stronghold game or something.
It just seems way more now, and not to the betterment of the game.

I'm not sure I can comment on the change, but I have done this point here myself and can speak to this. Verlander was my nemesis early on and so I wrote down my batting order and then went into conquest on same difficulty and scored 5 runs without an out recorded, where the showdown right before that it took 12 outs to score the 1st run. This was in the span of the same hour. Also, look to the different way moments play vs. games, and then the numerous you tubers and forum community members that are convinced that batting practice mode play different than games, even friendlies playing different than RS.
Not saying this has to be true because a bunch of people believe it, but the ole where there is smoke thing....
