Umpire Calls

One thing I think the game could reasonably do is implement technology they already have in the game towards online play: Umpire personalization. You get a different umpire for each hame, and each has their own, personalized strike zone. That way it adds variance to the game, and because the strike zone is not automatic, I believe this will also limit the number of check swings, as I’ve noticed that issue has grown considerably of late as well.

How about being able to customize your manger in DD.

YES!!! This is a GREAT idea.
I do agree that check swings haven’t been very good lately. I checked my swing, and it was clear I hadn’t held up. It said that I had. WASN’T EVEN CLOSE! -

Unless I’m mistaken, I’m pretty sure we had umpires calling things differently at different ball parks back in 17, and it sucked. At-bats in The Show already have a huge dice roll component. Why would you want umpires making terrible calls to further take control of the game out of your hands?
Now if what you mean is the size of the zone on screen changes but there are still perfect calls, I still would prefer it stay the way it is now, but I wouldn’t oppose it as much.

We had this in the past and people hated it. Imagine being in an incredibly tense game and you're in the bottom 9th bases loaded 2 outs and down 1, you're in a full count and you draw the walk by taking ball 4. But the umpire decides to call it a strike to end the game. No thank you. We need less randomness, not more.

Agreed.
I think we've all experienced plenty of times where it feels like the umpire has missed correct calls on pitches even with the settings set to "Perfect." We definitely do not need to widen the scope of missed calls based on umpire personalization. We already get that on umpire making incorrect calls in field play, i.e., runners clearly tagged out but called safe and vice versa.

Imagine everyone backing out of games when they see Joe West as the plate umpire.

No, Angel Hernandez!!!!

We’ve had random strike zones before and it was the worst gameplay experience for online gameplay. Balls out of the zone by a lot were called strikes and strikes way in the zone were called balls and it was all random and out of your control. What we need is strikes being called for pitches on the black, you can have 80% of the ball on the black and be called a ball. I think anyone that paints the corners and edges should be rewarded for doing so. It’s already hard enough to strike anyone out and it’s frustrating with how random pitching is to not be rewarded when you make those perfect pitches.

Meanwhile the computer throws a ball that's 20% on the black, and it's a strike. I can't be the only one that regularly happens to.

I've seen bad calls by all three mentioned but I think CB Bucknor is the worst. Plus he's always giving this evil smile after he fucks your team.

How about they stop using the Angel Hernandez sliders for online umpires. Come on blue! These umps are terrible.
