Batting Knowledge Requested - Depth Perception Issue
-
I'm a decent hitter for the most part, though I do have trouble at times with some pitches, largely due to the fact that I find it difficult to tell how far they've traveled at any given moment.
I'm asking for advice on which camera angle others have found gives good perception of pitch location (within the zone) as well as good depth perception in terms of how far the ball has traveled (so far).
I know that I can fix this with a Custom camera angle, but since those aren't usable in online play, I don't want to use an important feature in offline play which is unavailable in online play.
Thank you for your time.

The Offset angle gives you a view slightly from the side do that might be what you’re after. It takes some adjustment, but maybe that serves you better. Do some batting practice and try them all. Any view where the pitcher is standing squarely in the strike zone outline (like Retro) are the ones you’ll want to avoid.

If I’m hearing you correctly, I think you may want to try zoom or strike zone 3. You definitely get a better view of the entire field with those cameras as opposed to the standard SZ or SZ 2 cameras. Personally both of those cameras help with my depth perception. Give them a try, you may find you like them.

I use the show 15 camera, get good depth on it, the show 16 is even better for depth, I suggest you try a few and see what you like best.

Thank you for your reply - indeed, thank you to everyone who has replied!
I have tried many angles within the various Weekly Challenges, using those as ad hoc batting practice, since there is no traditional batting practice available except perhaps in RttS.
So far, Offset and Offset Zoom have been the two best for me, though I would prefer more of a downward angle on either.
Amusingly, the best angle for depth perception in terms of distance from mound to plate is probably one of the pitcher's angles. It would seem really weird to bat from that vantage point, though.

This may sound weird, but I just want to say how impressed I am with this thread and everyone replying to it. Actual advice, helpfulness, and no one dogging on anyone. It's refreshing as he1l.
I've had the same depth issue. I'm definitely going to have to change the camera angle.

Have you tried the “Custom Practice” feature? That’s what I think most of us use for BP.

Exactly. That’s where you can practice trying to hit Chris Sale with a lefty on Legend, or check different cameras, etc.

Strike zone high is the move.

The last time that I tried Custom Practice, the batting portion was like the game simulation practice event in Road to the Show. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.
