Enough with the negativity

It's still fun playing the game this year, minus a few controller spikes. I'll say this, it has so much potential to be the best thing since sliced bread, it's just clearly an unfinished product right now.
But, I'm going to try and stay optimistic, at least for a little while longer.

I mean, yeah I’m playing it, but how can it be an unfinished product? We’re two months into an eight month game, or 25% done with this year’s iteration. When would it get finished?

I would hope they finish up the final touches and post the final and perfect patch tomorrow. But they hear us and they're working on a fix.. lmao.
I'm just saying I'm going to stay on the positive side of things, regardless if they break it more or make it perfect. For me, it's too stressful and a waste of time to worry about all the bugs. I'll definitely be more invested if they make a perfect game though. -
Nobody's asking for perfect. This game is just broken in every facet. Even 18 played great offline, and online the only issues were slow pitch speeds and power hitters being overpowered.

That’s where I was at up until 1.10, then I just gave up and made do with the product they put out. I’m not happy about the shoddy state of the game though and I will remember it well and weigh it into any decision regarding further purchases in the future.

I'm guessing anyone that disagrees is "hate posting".
Everything you mentioned I disagree with and I feel 19 was way better than this dumpster fire. Also some things you mention I straight out see as a negative (perdect/perfects screwed the timing window, prospects are straight dumb, etc.)
You do you and have fun but don't push your agenda on those of us that don't agree with you, nothing you posted is based in objective facts
-
I agree 19 was better. Online play in 20 is a complete train wreck full of glitches and unpunished cheaters.
-
Once again it’s post like this that make SDs not fix this dumpster fire
-
The point I’m trying to make is that a lot of the major complaints from last year they tried to address. Have we all forgotten the 500 billion rage posts about lineouts from last year? Perfect perfect was an attempt to fix that and I think they did a passable job.
People complained about yearly cards incessantly, and they scaled back SS.
Diamond fielders had insane range and made the lineouts worse, and they tried to scale it back which is what I think caused the problems.
The Marlins and Phillies got shafted on cards last year, and they got great ones to start this year.
-
The gameplay definitely hasn’t been great, but the most disappointing thing about the last couple months is just the general lack of communication from SDS about anything. It would honestly even be acceptable for them to just say, sorry but we can’t fix it until we get back to business as usual. Other studios are having to deal with the same issues, but are continuing to communicate with their player bases and releasing patches and content. None of the announced patches for the game seem to fix much, and often times things get worse. I own my own business and things have been very challenging during COVID. I’ve had a closed office for over 6 weeks, but I’ve communicated with my staff every day and we’ve been communicating with clients via phone and office visits when issues and emergencies arise. If they can’t fix it now, just publicly acknowledge it and say they’ll work on it when they have access to better resources and tech. Lack of communication just creates more toxicity. There would still be some toxicity without fixes but I think we sometimes underestimate how many people would just understand the challenges if there’s just some acknowledgement of the situations. There are obvious issues while just playing the game offline and online. If SDS employees are playing their own game, it’s impossible for me to think that they couldn’t be absolutely aware of each issue. The problems happen often. I’ve always liked the SDS guys, but the lack of communication has soured my respect for them. Disappointing but true. If there’s some communication from them that I’m unaware of, I would happily accept being wrong. I want to stay positive about SDS and I game I’ve loved for years.

20 is better than 19 prove me wrong:
- Perfect/perfect
- Way less lineouts
- Player programs are great more offline content
- Yearly cards and a slower progression of overalls, less SS cards
- New legends are great
- Event reward system is great, really good rewards and incentives to play them for a while
- Frequent headliner updates
- PROSPECTS
- Expanded TA with better rewards
- Fielding matters more (I get it that it's had a lot of bugs but seems better recently)
- Contact and not vision determines PCI size
- THERE ARE SO MANY PHILLIES CARDS THIS YEAR (yes I know that's only important to some people)
Yeah there have been a lot of bugs but they've also been super responsive to fixing them, they're straight up soliciting feedback on the forums this year.
My only serious gripe with the gameplay is the pitching, and it's a big one that desperately needs attention, but overall I think 20 is a big step over 19.
Let the hate responses begin.
prove you wrong?? lol. ok done. i just played 19 and its better. next.

so a company (sony) who has unlimited resources has a major issue with a game and you're ok with "passable". whoa dude. drink some more kool aid.
once you lick the lollipop of mediocrity, you'll suck forever.

Content good gameplay meh. Again.

I think we can all agree that like many other game companies who had releases this year, especially in the sports genre, that SDS has given up on this year and is focusing all its efforts into next year's game on next gen consoles. I for one am excited to see what they can do with the much more powerful hardware the next gen consoles will provide, but I am disappointed to see them just mail it in when it comes to this year. Gameplay has not been good, '19 played way better, yes there were line outs but what do you expect when every outfield has 3 HOFer's with 85+ speed?.

It’s 2020 and if I get a perfect Release pitching it goes down the middle lmaooooo
-
I don't think they mailed it in. I believe the hitting and pitching are exactly where they want it, and I believe the fielding isn't fixable without recoding the whole thing. The way they tie routes and animations together is a janky mess.
-
You nailed it. MLB The Show 19 was a much better game especially in the online arena, which is overrun with glitches and cheaters.

They added features to fielding this year didn't they? the first step reaction etc., I honestly think the consoles cant handle all those animations at once and it just makes for a "janky mess" as you would put it lol. As for pitching and hitting, if this how they want it to be than I am out, I said it at launch, If I want to throw BP I'll volunteer my time with a little league team. I am just really disappointed with this year's game, but I fully expect a big rebound next year with the next gen consoles.

The game should not be released every year. with all the time and grinding and everything else put into this game. They stopped working on the current game 1/3 into the life cycle of it and start working on next year. I wouldn't be surprised if they are already working on MLB The show 21. This game should be released every two or three years with constant updates and content updates. And yes I know they are a company about money so they could make it mandatory to update next year for a price but keep the same game so they can keep working on the patches. instead of starting over and having the first two months be nothing but an experiment with sliders and whatever else they mess with.
