They used the "Innings" format before '23 and it was a gradual ramp up as the year went along. However, there were some 99's in the collection rewards that you could obtain Day 1 if you were willing to drop $1K+ at launch. -

Who are the S4 ones? -
@BeetleCoyote832_XBL
Maybe they will release a 99 Elly after he is announced as the MLBTS25 cover athlete! ...Just wishful thinking. -
I like the 99 Mondesi that was mentioned above, but my first choice would be a 99 Elly!

Nice to see those surveys meant something... Thank you for listening SDS!

In my experience... "Extreme Pull" cards (i.e. Griffey Jr, Betts, Blackmon, Carpenter, Belli, etc) have a quicker swing and are able to turn quicker on inside FBs (a pitch that a lot of users throw in online H2H). Contrarily, "Push" hitters do well going the other way and have an advantage making good contact with away stuff. -

My guess is that it would be a separate license. While the MLBPAA is affiliated with the MLBPA, they are different entities. That may be something that either SDS could negotiate directly with MLBPAA.... or possibly, the MLBPAA could negotiate directly with the MLBPA regarding the game license. In addition, players in either organization may be able to "opt out" in order to negotiate their own personal NIL. -
@pharley_MLBTS
I agree 100%... But what are your suggestions? I am not sure what they could do, other than implement a cool down period, which I would be in favor of. -
@Dolenz_PSN
'Not getting 99's until late summer' did not bother me a couple of reasons:First, unlike many of those who complained about this, I played all year long and did not bolt to Madden or COD in late summer/fall. Therefore, it was a nice reward for me to have the opportunity to earn those 99's in late summer and use them until the new game was released.
Secondly, the value of a card rating is only relative to whatever else is available. Therefore, not having 99's was no big deal to me, because no one else did either (save for a few 99's from LS collection rewards).
Regardless, the reason why we were sold "Seasons" in '23, was to accommodate "99's Day 1"... Now that the power creep is back, there is no logical reason to have the Seasons/Sets format. Innings, however, naturally supported a power creep (which I support).
-
Regardless, Seasons with expiring cards are terrible. Starting over (again) at this point is ridiculous. Hopefully next year they go back to "Innings", which naturally supports a power creep.

"20-1; but still be in Spring Training?"This is me about every year (after '16-'17). I have played against some very competitive users in those early divisions, as not everyone is a noob. They just do not play RS that often.
I do not get to play online RS H2H as much as I used to, so therefore, I do not accumulate enough games to move forward that much in a (shortened) RS season. In the past ('16-'17) I would hover around DS and make it to CS every year by late summer. Back then, RS was a yearlong progression, but now, you get dropped back a division or two every few weeks.
This newer RS format, has in part, removed a lot of the incentive for me to play RS that much. Which is a large part why I finished the year with a 20-5 record, or so, for the last 5-7 years.

A lot of folks would agree with that take, but I enjoy Moonshot... Not because of the offensive numbers, but because I enjoy the challenge of pitching in that Event. Moonshot has helped me learn how to pitch better. You cannot just spam high-in FBs/Sinkers and be successful. You have to keep your opponent off balance and be creative with your pitching. -
I asked them to dump having expiring cards. I also asked them to replace the Seasons format with Innings.
If you are going to have a power creep (which I like), then there is no reason to have numerous "sprints" (Seasons) throughout a single game cycle.

@Weshill627_PSN
Thanks for the review.One note about "ONLINE Diamond Dynasty - Ranked":
In '16 and '17 they did not reset RS every few weeks like they do currently. It was just one, year long program. They started resetting RS every few weeks in '18 or '19 (not sure which year?).
For example, I remember in '16 and '17, when I played RS more, I made it to CS and usually hovered around DS and CS for the remainder of the year. Now, they reset RS every few weeks and drop everyone down to AS or so (which I do not like).
