By doing that will I be able to get a new skillset?

I have a Shortstop right now but would like to switch to a Catcher. I want to make a whole new Ballplayer with the new position so it doesn’t mess with my shortstop guy. Is there a way to get different skill sets for the new guy? Like a different reward path?

Seriously seems like every night the severs are down..... kinda ridiculous.... you have one job to improve your game, and the servers are still [censored] a month in. I understand if it's a week but 17 days?!?! The servers are s$it.
