All star difficulty has no place in ranked seasons. RS is supposed to be a competitive mode, not a cesspool of randomness. Its ridiculous how many hits come as a result of poor user input, and how many outs come as a result of good user input. If you wanna play on AS difficulty, it should be in a mode where winning doesn't effect your ranking/rewards.
Sorry, but if you're not good at the game, you shouldn't be catered to. That's exactly what AS difficulty is, catering to those who either don't put the time in to get better or simply suck. I don't care if this comes off as elitist. You can have no skill at still win against far superior players on AS difficulty. That is the exact opposite of what ranked seasons in supposed to be.

Yeah, so is the perfect jump steal and homerun derby xp amount. This patch seems like a pretty big fail. I wanna see the team affinity tracker though.
Hey man, gotta patch the things that we enjoy before fixing the real issues

Trusting that SDS wouldn't f*ck up the game

I like the future stars/prospect concept
I think its cool that some of the young prospects from around the league get some recognition and become usable in the game. I wouldn't know 3/4 of these guys if not for these cards and I'm sure others wouldn't either. I don't care that their stats are boosted. Its fun to use young players from your favorite team and it gives some more variety to peoples' lineups. I also have some players to look out for when (if) baseball comes back like Casey Mize, Adley Rutschman, and Forrest Whitley (some of my favorite prospect cards).
Could SDS have implemented it better? Sure. I wish they didn't reuse prospect players for future stars cards. The fact that the event is 6 innings despite there being only 1 prospect reliever is just dumb. And I can see why people are upset that team affinity stage 2 gives future stars as a reward. Some of the cards that were released just aren't that good
But overall, I love the concept and I think people are taking it all a little too seriously. The legend cards will come, just enjoy the fact that we have more options to choose from

You hit the nail right on the head. Nothing has fundamentally changed. There are still good/okays on perfect PCI placements and good/goods on poor PCI placements. Only difference is now there is more room to put the PCI on the ball, which never was a problem in the first place. The problem was the contact result we get for actually putting the PCI on the ball

Do it. Take that break. Take a break on incessant complaining as well.
If you think this gameplay is acceptable then props to you. I and the majority of the player base does not

You summed it up perfectly. Can't hit, pitch, or field, yet its still possible to win. I played 4 games last night. I lost one that I should've won off bad luck, won one that I should've lost on good luck, won one that was fairly even but luck pushed me over the edge, and won one that I deserved to win.
My biggest gripe is the inconsistencies with PCI placement and results. So frustrating to square it up perfectly only to see good/okay on the screen. Same goes for pitching. Like you said, its all based on whether or not RNG is in your favor, even if you release it perfectly. I share the same sentiment as you that this game will almost definitely not last until Christmas

1:10 odds does not mean you are guaranteed 1 diamond for every 10 packs. It means each individual pack has a 10% chance of having a diamond in it.
-
Imagine if online players complained about too many offline missions. You people cry when there's ONE set of programs that don't cater to you. Its an online game, get over it
-
Just random chance. SDS doesn't reward user input
-
Because if they are then that is very sad. Overall its a sh*tshow. You have good PCI placements yielding good/okays, perfectly released pitches going nowhere near where you wanted them to go, and fielding (while slightly improved) is still abysmal. You have MLB players talking bad about the game on streams. Some of the top content creators have expressed their negative feelings towards the game.
I understand there is a pandemic and SDS can't magically fix all the issues. However, the lack of communication is extremely worrying. They only acknowledged that fielding was broken, and that was weeks ago. No mention of hitting or pitching despite the fact that many people (and MLB players) have openly talked about how bad these two aspects of the game are.
I would love for SDS to come out and be fully transparent. Does the game currently play exactly how you (SDS) want it to? If not, what changes do you have planned? How does the pandemic effect your ability to implement these changes? These are just a few questions I would like to have answered. I honestly don't think that's too much to ask, just be honest with the consumers who paid $60 for a game that does not play how it was advertised
-
Lets also not forget that this change was made after one week, when 99% of people were playing on all star or even veteran difficulty. The change was made way too prematurely
-
I wouldn't call taking pitches cheese.... but yes, I think people are more likely to take more pitches this year since A) pitches on the black are rarely called strikes, so why even bother swinging at them, and B) so many pitches hover right over the heart of the plate that you can afford to take the occasional strike on the black
-
I know everybody is already well aware of how awful fielding is right now, but this needs to be seen. Just happened in the MLB The Show Players league
-
Its because of RNG. Fielding is garbage, while pitching and hitting success is determined by randomness. You have no control as a user so you're basically watching a simulation and pressing buttons

The home run banner sticking around is not fixed consistently, I'm still seeing it hang around about half the time so far. Can we just remove it entirely at this point?
Hahahahaha wow three attempts at fixing it and they still failed. It’s just comical at this point

Daily reminder. Just revert back to the way it was before the patch. Thanks.

I mentioned this somewhere else, but if they want to make perfect-perfect tough to do, I'm fine with that. And whatever they want to call the next best outcome (good-good, I think, or good-squared up?) that is fine too. But hopefully this exit velocity switch makes those good-good, and good-squared up a bit more rewarding. I think that's the thing. I still get perfect-perfect a few times a game. I'm OK with that. But if good-good is the next best thing, it should still be giving us some good exit velocities; hard hits and decent results.
I agree but the attributes are all in play. All things equal, then yes, a good/good or whatever should have a higher percentage hit. Otherwise what is the point of all of the per 9's.
Point of the per 9s is to make it harder to get good PCI placement by making the PCI smaller as H/9 and K/9 increase. A squared up ball is a squared up ball regardless of who threw it. But squaring up Nolan Ryan should be significantly harder than squaring up, say, Bartolo Colon

Seriously. Has anything changed? Still far too many good/okays on good PCIs. Pitching is still way too inaccurate. I just had a perfect/perfect fly out with Bryce Harper that would’ve iced the game, and then gave up a game tying shot on a hung slider. Absolute utter horsesh&t. This is 100% my last MLB The Show purchase. SDS essentially lied to us for months leading up to the release date, touting a new hitting engine that actually rewards skill. That lasted all of a week. That’s honestly close to false advertisement. I don’t wanna take another break until they patch this sh*t again but it’s looking like I might have to.
