This year it's 'A good song never dies' but the overall music selection is awful. I get sick of it after a week and put in my own playlist.

From 1991-1993 Joe Carter hit 100 home runs, finished 5th, 3rd and 12th in the MVP voting respectively and won 2 silver sluggers. And of course he helped Toronto to consecutive world series rings, capped of by one of the most iconic home runs ever. I'd say that's certainly good enough for a prime card and early boss, despite the fact that he's not an all-time great.

We've gotten a lot of new players in the game this year, especially from the 90's and 00's. It is clear that SDS prioritized this time period. A consequence is that there seem to be legends from earlier time periods that are no longer in the game (and were in 2019). Here is a list of legends that were in the game last year but have not been seen this year:
SP Whitey Ford
SP Bert Blyleven
C Benito Santiago
3B Tony Perez
LF Monte Irvin
CF Richie Ashburn
CF Lary Doby
RF Shawn Green
RF Enos SlaughterThere are also some more recent guys like Travis Hafner and Aaron Hill that had signature cards last year and don't have any cards in this year's game yet. I really hope we will still see some of these guys in the game. Especially Blyleven and Doby were good for me last year

Man do I hate these moments. I get that they want some accuracy but... why give us 1 at bat with the gwynn, Bichette and Vlad missions (except for Dante)? Let us play the whole game... instead of staring at a loading screen for more than 50% of the time
-
Because the opposing pitcher doesn't throw strikes. Swinging at pitches outside the zone is never good
-
I was really surprised by the outcome of the negotiations. It seems like the MLBPA got everything they wanted. According to MLB trade rumours, most players get a full year of service time regardless of what happens.
Hey, at least the Orioles' pitching staff has a chance to give up less home runs than they did last year

I've lost quite a lot of 3-1, 5-2 etc. games. Only on the USA map though. The cpu is playing more aggressive as well, so I think they wanted to make it a little bit tougher. Well, with the amount of fans we're getting after each turn it's not a big deal
Extra games help for the XP and stars towards the 1st inning program so I don't really mind although it is annoying losing a game on a homerun outside the strike zone.
I think he was talking about simmed games. Anyway, extra games are not that bad. I use conquest to do daily missions and team affinity missions anyway. That's especially useful for pitcher innings

Oof, that's a tough one. My dad is an official scorer and my granddad was a long-time umpire for the IBAF, so baseball is pretty much a family thing. One moment I remember fondly is playing catch with a friend on one of the fields around Neptunus stadium (Rotterdam) during the 2007 World Port tournament. At some point a few players from team Japan turned up and played catch with us. Not just a couple of tosses; it must've been for nearly an hour. Seeing the Japanese and Taiwanese players (and the few fans that traveled with them), with all the respect and passion they have for the game, was definitely a moment to remember!

5th inning had 3 guys that retired very recently so I’d like to see some current day players get some boss cards. This does not mean future stars lol cuz we know how that’s gonna turn out.
That's an interesting thought. I don't think we'll get a 99 Trout yet, but Kershaw/Verlander and Pujols are definitely feasible. I wonder who else they would put in though. I don't see a currently active outfielder getting a 99 boss card (Maybe MVP harper? But he was only a 95 in the last 2 games) and as closers go Jansen and Kimbrel had 99s in the game last year but I doubt they will get cards rated that high this year.
I think they will go the other way and go for some really old legends. Something like Ty Cobb, Lou Gehrig & Walter Johnson

MTO is definitely a good place to start. Pick a good team which also gets you a decent FOTF player (Yankees with Gleybar Torres for example) and set difficulty to dynamic (starting from veteran). Try to be patient and look for 1 pitch or area (while on less than 2 strikes). Fastball up and in? Let them go, you'll only hit pop ups unless you are on them.
As for the conquest boards, the first few turns are all about getting fans. So, in the first 2 teams conquer empty spots only and steal fans while playing on a difficulty that is challenging but winnable. Once all the empty spots on the board are taken you should get you should get plenty of reinforcements per turn. Put them all in 1 spot and start conquering their tiles 1 by 1 (simulating all the games). Don't worry about them conquering a few tiles back. On the Tebow board (depending on the simulation) you can acquire all non-stonghold tiles around turn 6. Then, load all your fans on one tile next to the stronghold and attack. You can even play the game on Rookie difficulty if you like.
One way I got to improve when I first picked up the game was by playing 'play now' games on higher difficulties (Hall of fame) and just look at how the pitcher throws for an inning or 2. Don't swing, but try to see how pitches move and try to predict what is coming. Then I'd reload the game on a slightly lower difficulty and try to compete. This way you'll learn quickly how everything moves, what your favorite pitches to hit are and which pitches you should lay off.
Good luck! -
This is the piece he wrote for the players tribune today. It's well worth a read

I expect this to be patched at some point. From the affinity packs in the granderson program I pulled both hicks and andujar twice. I get that they want us to keep one for the collection, but with all the affinity packs we're going to earn (10 in the team affinity program alone) I don't see the point in having 5 duplicate unsellable/un-exchangable silvers and bronzes in our inventory

@samguenther1987 said in Conquest:
Yah I expected as much. I only mentioned that because you said the CPU is playing more aggressive (which I agree with you). I do the same thing for the affinity missions and daily grinds the big map is very helpful in that regard.
O wait, my mistake. I meant the CPU was playing conquest more aggressively. I seems to attack your territories a little bit more often, even with 2-1 odds (last year it wouldn't attack until the odds were at least 3-1.). But yeah, gameplay as well. More bunts and early-count balls in play. I like it!

the media is no doubt only speaking about worst-case scenarios and making people panic but at this point you have to ask yourself why is the government taking such extreme measures for something some say is just a flu. We will never get the full truth but at this time saying all of this will blow over by may seems off. I could be wrong i am no expert but I like gathering info from multiple places and coming up with a middle ground.
Here in the Netherlands the government is very up-front with their reasons for the (near-)lockdown: A lot of people will be infected regardless of the measures they take, but they're trying limit the number of people getting ill and needing care at the same time to stop hospitals from overflowing. To be honest, it works pretty well so far as long as people oblige to the rules. Germany has even stricter rules in place and the number of new infections per day there is staggeringly low for such a contagious virus.
In my view the main reason why this pandemic is taken so seriously is that we currently don't know exactly how to handle the virus. Give it a few years and i'm positive that there will be a way of curing even the most vulnerable groups.

I picked up Newhouser yesterday. Used him in ranked season. Walked the first better, got a double play and was perfect after that. The difference between his pitch speed is very good. So I'd recommend him
-
Where was the pitch? If it was inside for example, the best place to hit it would be way out in front of the plate, resulting in a line drive foul.

@PAinPA said in This Happ mission is killing me!:
I did bichette first, he seemed to want to see how far he could hit it each time, 1 hop off fence for double 1st ab,he didn't seem to like that as he hit it off the top of batters eye 2nd ab.
Happ doesn't seem to care where he hits it.But... how? The only thing I can hit with bichette is pop ups and weak grounders
-
You're letting your opponents score more runs than you. That can be fixed by either pitching better or hitting better. Or, preferably, both.
On a more serious note, I find that against most players the key to pitching is velocity. 98+ MPH primary pitch + a good offspeed pitch is all you need until you go up against most really good players. And I don't know how to beat those either
