I have FOTF Trout and can't really hit well with him, but I got the regular Trout in a Showdown and he basically won most of the matchups single-handedly for me. Felt like I was cheating. I'm an offline player only and don't really spend my stubs, but it's fun getting that little taste of how amazing the regular Trout is. Made the game that few extra levels of fun.

Baseball Stars ... that was perfection. The controller pad sequences kind of similar to the famous Contra one that would give you a superpowered team. That women's team was a great way to make money for your franchise. Also Bases Loaded was a great game. First one, I think, that had the center field camera for pitching.
Anyway, interesting to see long-timers say DD has led to gameplay being worse. DD is why I got hooked so quickly and dug in so deep on the game in less than a year.

Man, I've been lurking on here for a month or so and this was the thread I needed to find after so much negativity. 45 years old, never played the game till last September but really do love it. The baseball card aspect, those '82 Topps cards that show up (Molitor, Fernando), how could I not be hooked?! I'm glad to see people are going through what I am so far in 22. As someone said above, trying to remember that I started the game when it was easy to get 99 Gibson and 99 Maddux, overpowered hitters. So far the cards aren't as supercharged.
On All-Star especially, any pitch that catches any meat of the plate is getting smashed. Struggling with location. Also kind of blown away how in a 0-2 or 1-2 count, breaking stuff just a hair's breath off the black, the CPU watches it. I don't need a perfect simulation, but it takes me out of the game a bit to see hitters down in the count like that repeatedly take pitches that could go either way.

Finally, after however many years, in 2021 I burned out on FIFA. Will never, ever go back. In September, I saw The Show 21 was free in my Game Pass so I downloaded it on a whim. Had never played before but always wanted to try. I played 21 straight through till March 30. I can't believe how much fun content is in here without the need to spend money. I'm older now, don't get long extended stretches to play, but there's a million different options offline. (I'm an atrocious online player.)
Anyway, I was so geeked to play 22 from the very beginning and I'm having fun so far, but I can't believe how negative the tone is on here. Glad to see someone talk about how there is actual fun to be had.

FWIW, all the comments in this thread are a big help for me after getting swamped on this map pretty quick over the weekend. I also appreciate the generally positive tone in the whole thread. I'm new to this game and only started playing 21 in September when I saw it was free with Game Pass. Last few weeks I've been lurking on here, excited to play a full year of the game but so many threads are just awful negativity.
Literally about to sell Mike Trout
