I think they problem comes down to sample size here. In event games, if you’re a player that’s contesting for WS, you’re gonna be the far better player at least 4 out of 5 games. Those games will feel great since you’re gonna crush the guy. That 5th game, eh it’s only 3 innings. “anything can happen in a 3 inning game”
Then in RS, you’re playing someone at your skill level (even though you probably want to think he’s not) and you get 9 uninterrupted innings of tough baseball.
When you’re talking about how the game plays, or if you’re “right on” everything, don’t forget to factor in your opponents’ skill levels. You may not realize it, but if your timing is off on a lot of pitches, it might simply mean... wait for it... they’re actually good at pitching.

The quality of player has nothing to do with the timing of hitting. A fastball is a fastball and so on, I get better players sequence pitches better and locate and all that, but it still does not change how much different timing felt hitting in ranked seasons on Hall of Fame compared to the event on hall of fame.
