I did Topps Now moments first because that was the last thing I needed for MVP trout. Working thru the shark map now
Just an awesome day (and year) of content. Kudos SDS!

Go on....
Yeah I was overconfident the first time and didn't try too hard on the moments. Went in 15-7 and lost 15-15
That 102 really snuck up on me lol. That dumb slow windup followed by 102 is tough. Also the patient approach doesn't really work because this mf just pounds the zone
Doing my 2nd run now and plan to take the moments much more seriously
OP-- i really relate to a lot of things in this thread. I am a long time player in my mid 30s now, who just switched from directional to zone this year. i had tried zone in years past but couldn't master it and always went back to directional.
i'm a .220 hitter in RS this year so far, with a 95-65 record. Made CS once so far. about a month or two into the year i decided to give zone a real shot and went down a similar path as you. watched a ton of vids, etc. here are some random thoughts:
-- KFs have definitely helped me. i use the high rise, convex kind (color doesn't matter) and i feel they allow me to do "small movements" a lot better than just the stick by itself. honestly, for $15 it is well worth trying. I don't think any of the streamers play without them.
-- got a monitor maybe 2 weeks ago. has made a difference but not as much as the KFs imo.
-- as a zone hitting/PCI noob, i have good days and bad. when i am having a bad day it is usually because i am wildly flailing trying to reach every pitch. This is not a good approach for me. focus on small movements with the PCI (like, tiny) and try to hunt pitches in the middle 1/3rd of the zone. ignore high and low pitches.
-- related to the above, again as a PCI noob, i find it helps me if i tell myself to focus on lateral movements of the PCI only. partially this is because the game auto-moves the PCI down if you swing late and up if you swing early. focus on moving the PCI left-right only and hunt pitches in that middle zone only. refuse to swing at pitches not in that zone (much easier said than done)
-- one other thing that really helps me is, pre-pitch, i have started aligning my PCI vertically with the release point. i find that this REALLY helps me read where a pitch will end up because i can "see" both the release point and the PCI in my periphery. sometimes leaving the PCI in its initial resting point means i can't really "see" my PCI because i am so focused on the pitcher's release point.
-- oh and that really is the #1 hitting tip-- find the pitcher's release point. this is the absolute #1 key to becoming a better hitter.
-- try SZ offset view if you have trouble with high/inside pitches, esp fastballs. it leaves me a bit vulnerable to reading outside pitches when facing same handed matchups, but in oppo handed matchups, it is fantastic, because it makes it so the pitcher's release point is in the middle of the strike zone rather than the edges (if that makes sense)
-- if you're super frustrated with your hitting in RS, try playing some BR. i find that hitting against some crappier pitching on AS difficulty can really help me feel good about my hitting (have put up some big crooked numbers that rarely happen for me in RS, makes me feel good at least even if it doesn't translate lol)
i'm hitting .260 this season and able to compete for the most part. biggest thing is i am slowly becoming more disciplined and able to take walks again as i get better with PCI. even though i miss zone hitting, i am enjoying learning and getting better at the PCI and hope i can make WS some day.
Why is Seattle Mariner Paxton the Yankees SP lol
Any beach ball packs yet?
You get the full amount.
This is why you should never sell golds for less than 1111, and diamonds for less than 5555
@eatyum said in "I Just Lost To 'The Biggest' Scrub" Story:
Why do people when they write these retellings always feel the need to embellish it?
Case in point "The game allowed me to yield only 1 run off 7 hits, along with 3 of 4 perfect/perfect going for outs up to that point"
There was only one perfect/perfect in the game and it was by Stan Musial who got a hit.
The rest of the story seems totally plausible and you weren't lying about your opponent striking out that much, so why embellish that one little detail?
I thought the game log only lists p/p that went for hits, not the ones that go for outs (genuinely asking, not trying to be a smart [censored])
Hey, thanks for the discussion
I am at 11/15 collections done. Will get FS done soon. The ones I want to avoid for sure are HRD and prospects. Not sure about postseason either...
My dilemma is for the PS collection I have 11/15 and also have Eddie Murray but haven't locked him in (he would be 12). Would you just sell Eddie now before the new content Tuesday?

Thanks for the free card, but it makes no sense that SDS gives Future Stars higher power stats than Babe Ruth. Gotta be kidding right? If there’s one player in the game that should have 125 power, should easily be Ruth.
This card is based on his 1923 reason exclusively. He only hit 41 home runs that year. He had several better power seasons.
I cannot believe he was only MVP once ...
I don't think they were allowed to win it more than once back then.
Also those 41 homers were more than a few different teams

30/100 stars. Should take 10-15 hours in total. Trying a bunch of cards out and it has been fun so far!
Me too...I'm trying to try using different pitchers to see who I like but the game automatically picks my pitcher.first it was Nolan ryan so i used him then i took him off roster put in Mays but it picked paxton.put Mays in Paxton spot on roster an still picked Paxton..took Paxton off team and it picked Orel next.i can't figure it out lol.but I'm definitely experimenting with all the different players I acquired that I didn't have before to finish trout collection..if you or anyone else knows how it picks your pitcher can someone please tell me lol.
It picks the highest overall rated pitcher. So just make sure the other 4 guys are lower overall than May

I'm in the same boat. Bought Robert to try out, and he's fun, but Harper is an instant add for me.
Honestly I might hold him til the packs go off the market, hopefully price will rise a bit
That’s what I was thinking too. Also with Ruth coming in, I’d rather have Beli over Robert so it seems he’s the odd man out. Robert is nice in CF tho, he tracks down EVERYTHING
He's awesome no doubt. But I have Eric Davis who is great in CF as well and Robert is more expensive
I think best time to sell will be day before 7th inning bosses are announced. Unless they randomly drop the elite round for beach ball pack on Tuesday or something because then these guys will tank. But I'll take the risk and hold on and hope he rises to 100k or so
Thinking about spending $1200 on this game and getting skinned alive by my wife
Find the pitchers release point. You have to see the ball out of the hand as early as possible in order to decide whether it's a ball or a strike
Instead of looking at the pitcher, try looking at the spot on the batters eye where the pitch seems to come out of. And when I say look, I mean stare at it.
I had to switch to directional and spam power swing
Probably a D, but I just started taking zone seriously this year. It's insanely hard which makes all the YouTubers w perfect reactions even more annoying to watch lol
When I'm "on" I can hit fastballs but breaking stuff in the lower 3rd still gets me. I can't ever be on both a fastball and changeup even if I know what's coming 100%
Another thing is that I'm constantly tinkering w the hitting settings. Right now I'm trying out the flick instead of buttons to hit. Also trying to turn the PCI off. Who knows man, just throwing [censored] against the wall
But I enjoy slowly improving so it's fun
