I really CANNOT emphasize this enough: YELL at the game, instead.
Lol, right.
I just want to know that what I'm doing matters.

Having my own outcomes being determined by something other than my actions is triggering for me.
I don't think that's fair. I've got every right to enjoy my leisure time how I like, and these forced losses are robbing me of that. I think you could at least inform the player that some team members are in "slump mode" or whatever it is, so the manager can adjust. But just forcing the player to eat it? That's not ok.
These forced slumps have finally done it. They have finally reduced me to tears. Pitch after pitch after pitch, not even close to what I want. Regardless of my meters, which are usually good. It's either giving away my strategy, or just laying it in for him to crush. Critical situations that come from outside the players control that will thwart entire games. And after sticking it out? Common cards.
Please. Please, please, please remove this nonsense and let me play my game.
