Before i start let me just say i’m a pretty solid DD player i have a good squad and i consistently make championship series. With that said, the game is at a horrible state right now. Myself and plenty of other people have said this due to two main factors, bad hitting engine and overpowered pitching.
The problem with the hitting is 1) good swings not getting rewarded and 2) bunt cheese/speed cheese. The good swings not being rewarded really became a problem at the field of dreams. Everyone decides to play their and because of low elevation, good swings consistently die at the track or not even the track. Perfect example yesterday I had a good/good with chipper jones against Cliff Lee that didn’t even get to the track. Bunt/speed cheese is the second big problem and it keeps getting worse. Before the Lou Brock drop, it wasn’t that bad but now in the 7 games i’ve played since the FOD program drop 3 of them have been bunt and speed cheesers. Lineups similar to Robinson, Brock, Lofton, Pausan, Turner, Acuna etc. are overly common now. And I know your thinking “well not all those guys have good bunting” yes, but all of them have 95+ speed and with how easy it is to push bunt to second with 95+ speed it’s a garunteed hit every time. And don’t say change your defense because every time you do that the game glitches out and you end up stuck in a over shift or your first baseman is holding on a ghost.
Now pitching, this is where it gets ridiculous. Like i said i’m a consistent championship series guy, so i’m used to HOF, but the amount of times i’ve faced DeGrom, Crochet, Cabrera, Ryan, Grove type rotations is ridiculous. pitch speed are way too high, the sinker didn’t get nerfed, off speed pitches (especially sliders down and away) are impossible to hit, and 102 is more like 106. that’s the main problem, outlier. Outlier makes the fastball so ridiculously fast and the high sinker nearly impossible to hit. You can tell me it’s only 3 MPH faster then 99 but ask anyone and they will agree it’s a much bigger difference. Pitching is way too overpowered this year and let’s be honest nobody is playing this game for 2-1 pitchers duels, slugfest and hitters having a advantage is what’s gonna expand the game. I’m not saying every game needs to be 15-12 but i’m saying make pitching where if someone is repeating the same pitches over and over again (high sinker, high fastball, low slider, low change) then the pitch should get murdered, make people actually have skill.
Overall i just don’t think the game is in a good place, and I played all through 18 so I know what a bad MLBTS looks like. something needs to be done soon or this game is gonna be dead by September again.
