I understand the issue regarding tattoos with licensing and detail that goes into them. It’s kind of one of those things that would be really cool to have but understand it is near impossible. Over the years they’ve added small tattoos on guys like Yadi’s neck tat and such. And I also think there are so few guys in MLB with tattoos compared to the NBA so it would be doable. Can’t be too expensive to add in Senzel and Duran’s tattoo sleeve.

Please comment any other additions you’d like to see for realism

Hey guys. I’ve been playing MLB The Show consistently from the beginning, even playing a lot of it on my old PSP. I feel like I could honestly make a decent paycheck from this game by being a consultant for improvements to the game, especially for player appearance, game flow, and franchise mode. I’ve been compiling a list of improvements, small & big, to hopefully get out to the world, especially for a game developer to see and implement.
- Have ability to add team themed headband under hats/helmets. I know some players come with them, but not everyone.
- Be able to edit gear based on home and away games.
- Less check swings and improve realism of them. Most check swings look clunky and about 10 years behind in realism.
- Lead offs need a complete overhaul. Majority of times I take one extra step on the lead, even when I’m not stealing, I’ll get picked off. There needs to be some kind of skill/reaction based system in play to be able to take aggressive leads without getting picked every time.
- Pitchers should warm up in the pen with their actual in game delivery. It’s annoying to watch a submarine pitcher warm up throwing with a different motion.
- Above knee pants like Bo Bichette.
- Ability to have manager argue certain plays. Can be a meter of how heated they get and can affect certain players morale based on personalities.
- Infielders more realistic playing solid contact short hops defensively. Infielders often play a ground ball that’s hit 99 mph on a short hop identically to a weak contact Sunday hop grounder.
- Hitters can wear the thumb padding which is common.
- Fielders can have cut scenes in broadcast mode where they’re checking cards in their back pocket for defensive shifts.
- Personality types for players more prominent. For example, a mild mannered player like Kris Bryant wouldn’t have an animation yelling at the umpire like maybe a Josh Donaldson would.
- Rainouts turn into Doubleheaders. Would add some realistic stamina management for players. I.e. wouldn’t have the same catcher play both games due to fatigue of a doubleheader. Same with pitchers.
- SP need more stamina. I always bump the SP stamina slider all the way right for my franchise. Majority of SP’s shouldn’t be getting tired at 80 pitches. And if they’re in a groove, stamina should be less affected. I believe there’s already a little bit of that in play however.
- Minor League rehab stints for players coming off IL.
- Ability to send Catcher only for a mound visit. Certain catchers have better ability to improve pitchers’ confident.
- Ability to update faces of players mid franchise.
- Louder crowd reaction and more intense commentary for playoff games. Slight shake to camera for crowd rumble during broadcast cut scenes after big hit.
- Ability for players to leave buttons undone on jersey
- Get more players’ tattoos in game
