This is my first year playing The Show. In my experience, this game has a huge skill gap. Mashing buttons won't get you to World Series. The best players recognize pitches and have the discipline to only swing at hitters' pitches with less than two strikes. They also know how to exploit an opponent's batting weaknesses and sequence pitches for maximum deception.
I see some complaints about perfect / perfect contact not being hits and pitches with perfect releases not being dots. I understand the frustration but I think the little bit of rng that results in perfect input sometimes leading to imperfect results is necessary to prevent the game from feeling robotic. The developers are striving to make this video game seem as lifelike as possible and I think the illusion would take a hit if we knew the exact outcome based on our input. Obviously, the inputs and outputs need to be correlated, which they are, but that bit of wiggle room that leaves the outcome uncertain is necessary for the magic of the presentation.
