That is the attitude I developed towards the start of the year. The first year I played was ‘21 and everyone says ‘21 had programs that were “too easy”, but they were a lot of fun and everything seemed to make sense. I worked towards things all year long and there were programs to complete all the time, but I was still able to use “my team” most of the time. This year I just feel like a robot playing the exact way I am told with the cards they tell me to use…rinse and repeat. I didn’t really watch the show, but I remember an episode of the TV show Lost where a guy had to put a series of numbers in a machine everyday at certain times. This game reminds me a lot of that. Which is why I play less and less each week.

I get what you are saying, but I think this is the age we live in. Games are modeled after mobile games which are designed to keep people playing and spending currency.
No that’s exactly what it is and it’s really frustrating- it’s a money grab
Like I bought the BR reward Griffey- so now in a month I won’t be able to use him but they will come out with a new 99 Griffey that I either have to grind for or pay more money for
I’m almost disgusted with this- sorry if it sounds like I just woke from a coma but this really didn’t hit me in the earlier months of the game bc we were able to use any cards we like
I think you are ahead of the curve. I don’t think it will hit a lot of people until season three. This is definitely my least favorite version of this game yet…which is sad because I enjoy the gameplay.
-
I agree. People keep saying “it was in the stream…it is your fault if you don’t know.” 95% of the player base didn’t watch that stream.
-
As the OP said, I have without a doubt had it go both ways this year. It has seemed to be way worse in BR and Events than in Ranked. It seems that momentum, pitcher confidence, etc. can be really hard to overcome this year…once the train starts rolling, it just seems like it doesn’t often come back the other direction.

This is absolutely the most enjoyable version of this game that I have played. I have yet to have an outcome that I did not think was the way it should be....that is hitting, pitching and defense. Every single aspect is better. It is no longer just K, homerun or unrealistic defensive play. My brain has shifted to "Wow, I can put Boggs or Gwynn in my lineup", which is awesome! I think this is also going to translate to a wider variety of pitchers being usable as well.
My biggest concern is that they patch something because of posts like this. I am an average player and truthfully I am losing more than normal, but the mistakes I make are evident and for the first time ever I feel like I know how to improve and get better. I truly think the game this year is "functioning as intended" and I am so happy that it is.

So some people hate the rate of perfect/perfect outs in this game...and some people think they should never happen. The truth is a ball can be perfectly squared up and result in an out, and outs take place on balls in play way more frequently than they result in hits. "That's the way baseball go" as Wash would say.
So the solution! In baseball a person is rewarded with kind words form teammates or coaches when a person absolutely destroys a pitch and has nothing to show for it. This game can do the same. What if perfect/perfects resulted in pxp or xp whether they were hits or outs? Theoretically what if a perfect/perfect gave more pxp/xp than a HR? Then a person would always have something to reward them for good input, but the game would still reflect the real game.

@Honor_The_Game44_PSN said in They're releasing an update but..:
In all honesty I see a lot of things that have been mentioned around here. They might be small, but there are a lot of them.
-custom uniforms
-UI blur when placing orders in the market
-pitches “jump” and land far from intended location
-player portraits
-size of CITI scoreboard
-UI speed in conquestThose are in the patch.
Yes…that was my point. People were saying nothing that has been mentioned in these forums is in the update. I said there are many things that have been mentioned that are in the update.

Not a stupid question…especially if the person has never played DD.

So based on the most recent SDS tweet, there will be more dinosaurs in CAP stadiums. Is this really what people want in this game? I know I am an old man, but I have an 18 year old and a 9 year old who play this game also. I have never once heard them say “I love the dinosaur stadiums” or “Man, I wish this game had dinosaur cards”. I have heard them say, “I wish you could play in the Kingdome” or “a Bo Jackson Card would be awesome”.
Just honestly wondering if this is what the masses are wanting?

Takashi-Awesome
Stanford Greene-AwesomeKaiju with monsters all over the stadium, creating shadows to make a simple moment harder than it should be? No part of it is fun or interesting and that absolutely goes for the cards as well. People on here don’t like to hear anything negative about the game, but SDS needs to hear them. There are many things with this game that are driving players away.
As has been mentioned, they have always done a great job with cards and everything connecting and making sense. There are many new ways they could have done that to keep things fresh, but this is what they did instead.

@Ericulous1_PSN said in TA Season 2 is underwhelming:
This game is more than just building one “God Squad to rule them all.” The logic that certain cards aren’t usable only applies to the percentage of people who only play Ranked. There are many of us who like playing all the other aspects of the game- conquests, showdowns, Mini Seasons, BR, Events, events missions etc. I pay my $100 for the game so that I can have a ton of enjoyable content to complete and a diverse set of cards of my favorite players to collect and use. This year far surpasses last by a massive margin.
This company can’t win with anyone. How is a robust program with a ton of content, 90 diamond cards, 3 showdowns, 3 conquests, an entire Mini Seasons attached to it and 6 huge reward paths filled with missions, moments, cards, stubs and XP underwhelming? If all you wanna do is have the best team to play online and don’t enjoy any of the other content or any of the cards that aren’t the top tier- that’s like buying a mansion and only using 1 room.
I think a lot of the discussions around the forums the past few days really show that people approach the game in different ways and I think that is why it is so hard for people to understand different perspectives at times. Here is why I think TA2 could be underwhelming for a big part of the audience. You say it is "more than just building One God Squad to rule them all", but it is just that for many people or variations of that. DD is the premiere online platform of MLB the show. Unless you want to play with a current MLB roster with no variation, it is the only way a person can play online.
'21 was the last time there was TA. The game launched with The 42 Series that were all 88's. Some were big names and some were not, but they worked well to fill out rosters for a decent chunk of the year. TA2 was legends and flashbacks...they were all 93-96 and again they supplemented rosters perfectly. TA3 was All Stars and honestly they broke the game, but were awesome. They were all 97-99 and everyone's favorite players. They took over most lineups, but there were still cards that came after that replaced most of them (other than Trea and DeGrom). Then the final TA was Finest. Every TA arrived with cards that people wanted for "theme teams" or online play...and not just a few cards, a lot of cards.
Again, the game may not be just about the "God Squad", but it is for some. An online player does want to complete collections because what online player would not want Pedro, Chipper, Babe, Randy, Trea, etc. in their lineup? To complete collections a person has to complete programs, but unlike years past the cards that are being obtained through things like TA2 are underwhelming because for a large part of the player base they are only good for completing collections. The cards that arrived this weekend that most online players wanted in their lineup either came through packs or collections rewards.
This really isn't even mentioning that 95% of the grinding required is offline. Sure you get a pxp bonus for online, but you still have to complete conquest, showdown and moments...and an "offline" player doesn't have to spend one second online. I was an "offline" player that has played more "online" through the years. My preference is a balance of "online" and "offline", but this game is majorly weighted towards the "offline" player. You may not see TA2 as underwhelming, but for some who approach the game differently than you, they will.
-
This is the best Gibson card I have seen. I agree it gets a bit old like Randy, DeGrom, Cabrera, etc. from previous years, but I am glad there finally is a card that represents who he was. I’ve always felt he should have the top pitching card or at least one of the top ones and it has never been this way.

@BJDUBBYAH_PSN said in Expiring Cards is absolutely ridiculous:
It’s almost like people constantly whined about the game being the same year after, so they changed it. Weird.
I remember all the complaining. “We need great 99s that will expire in two months so we can work to get the same cards again…and let’s have as many things as possible be non sellable…and let’s have monsters in the stadiums that cause shadows and make hitting way more challenging.”
Just because some people thought aspects needed some freshness, does not mean they want the things that have arrived this year.
-
I Agee. It would be one thing for the announcers to refer to them that way (as long as it isn’t every at bat like Muncy), but they should not be in the box score or market that way. Half of these names are so obscure that I have no clue who they are by the nickname.

@JayCitie_XBL said in Is SDS Just ignoring the IOS Update:
Exactly, they say they will update us and then silence. Update isn’t telling us it’s here once it’s here. Update is it will be here in three days or a week or tomorrow, something so I’m not checking every couple hours or days to see if it’s fixed.
I have never understood how SDS views “update” as saying “now it works”. Simple updates every so often would do wonders for them with game issues.
You know when you are on hold and the person comes back every two minutes and says “I just wanted to let you know that I am still working on it and it will be a few more minutes.” It is annoying that they haven’t fixed, but it goes a long way in letting you know they are trying. So much better than being on hold for an hour and then getting disconnected with no update.

@OverlandXGeorge_NSW said in Why do people quit during the choosing pitcher screen on BR?:
I started this thread ten mins into trying to get a game going. It is now been 30 mins of people quitting out on me. Mini seasons in broken, haven’t gotten a new conquest map in two weeks and now this. The universe is telling me to play another game.
If it takes my opponent more than a few seconds to select their pitcher; I'll back out.
I never back out, but goodness gracious it takes some people forever to select a pitcher and fix their lineup when it comes to BR. Do they not realize they can set their lineup before they ever try to start a game?

@Pennstatefencer_MLBTS said in Flash Sale Possibility:
Anyone want to take guesses as to when the first flash sale for packs will be? I think the first one last year was on 4/29/22. This Friday could be a possibility.
Looks like I was right on the money for once.
A flash sale has been confirmed on Twitter. It starts at 1:00 pm PST.I'm hoping to pick up some cheap cards as people rush to sell off stock and pull their orders so they can waste money on packs.
Appreciate you posting this yesterday. I have been thinking one was coming, but probably would not have thought about it enough to prepare if you hadn't posted yesterday. I sold off about 400k of stuff last night in preparation.
A few tips if you are new to Flash Sales:
-
The market normally starts to crash leading up to the Flash Sale. Sometimes this is the lowest some cards will go. For example, things like BR or RS Rewards will not be part of the flash sale and most people selling those cards will be doing so before the sale to get stubs for the sale.
-
You can definitely make stubs if you are smart and buy up certain things to resale later...but you might have to be patient as plenty of others will do the same.
-
Be careful that you don't buy packs that are "No sell" unless you know they are. They have done this in the past with "pre order" packs and I think I remember a time or two they did it with LS packs.
*More than anything...this is a great time to buy cards off the market. Buying packs can be fun, especially if you have plenty of stubs, but the market is what makes them beneficial.
-
-
Shh…I don’t think you are supposed to talk bad about the monsters or shadows around here.
-
I am with you 100% on all of this. I am glad part of the player base finally feels like they have enough "content" to keep them from getting bored, but simply having tons of cards that require countless hours of gameplay is not the definition of "content" to me. During the first season I finished both seasons of BR, RS, every conquest map that was released, all the TA showdowdowns, the entire Charisma program and I don't know what all else. After all of that, I only completed one division of TA1. The game is designed to keep people jumping through hoops all the time and rarely leaves people time to play the way they want. Now RS is significantly more time consuming in the second season.
So this is the point where people say "just quit" if you don't like it. I am fairly certain a lot of people will. That attitude may be great for the people on here who say it all the time, but it may not be the best mindset for SDS. I remember a long time ago an old man teaching me a system for teaching. It made it where the class would be super easy for the students and everyone was like "it shouldn't be this easy". His response was "if they have fun, they will be more likely to like the class and continue on with the subject long after they leave this class". There is a point where making things too hard or time intensive has negative consequences.
Only SDS will know how these decisions impact things, but I would be very surprised if they keep a big player base in DD for all six seasons. My son quit a month ago and I am starting to spend time in other modes. I will not just quit, because this is the only game I play and I do enjoy playing it. It is a hard mentality to change though when this game has always been about completing collections, but in my opinion they have made it where the effort required to complete collections is just not worth it. The game just feels like a hamster wheel this year.
What is the point to any of this?
Expiring Cards is absolutely ridiculous
1 thing to remember about Set 1 expiring
Still too much RNG
I miss the classic card types
Hitting needs a major tune up
