Love the game but gotta agree with this. Moments have become an unenjoyable chore. There are soo many of them.

Seriously. Pretty sure 80%-85% of all my good swings/perfect swings are just outs. Good launch angles, all that jazz. Am I the only one here?

Perfect/perfect carries around an .800 average, if it seems lower its just because you're frustrated. Good/good im not sure what the general average is but I wouldn't assume that high, maybe around .400? Best hitters in the league fail at least 70% of the time so a lot of good hits are going in gloves.

One of my many beefs with this still broken game, can they not call those 'ok' or 'average' swings? Good or perfect is not the full range of swings/results.

Honestly I think theybshould get rid of all the good, okay. Late. Early swings and just change it to "pull, extreme pull, push, extreme push and neutral or something for what is now good timing". Just because you are "early" or "late" on a pitch in realnlofe doesnt mean its a bad swing, pull hitters are trying to pull the ball so being early shouldn't be a punishment. Other way for opposite field hitters. I dont think the hitting is actually a problem I think everyone just focuses too much on what the output says and what they think the result of that output should be.

I completed the Live series collection so now I just get up to 15k and rip packs for fun and dump everything into TA exchanges and I enjoy the rush

Yes, thankfully I got the LS collection and TAs done or I’d be wrecked lol. But that’s what I’ve been doing for “fun” too, until this go around, things got real dark over here.

Avoiding Double Plays:

• Set the PCI at the bottom of the zone. Early in the count (with a runner on 1st), lay off sinkers, cutters, and anything coming in below your PCI.
• Ideally, look for a pitch thigh-high to belt-high and come up with your PCI to meet it.
• Unless you start jerking the PCI, over-correcting and therefore swinging above the ball, this should help you to avoid most non-fluky double plays.
• Overall, if it's really true that the only thing causing you to lose is double plays, then consider over-correcting by permanently starting the PCI low in the zone. Don't let yourself move the PCI down any farther (therefore forcing you to layoff everything you'd hit into the ground or worse).

General Tips

• Since you beat Veteran 98% of the time, the issue must be something you're doing just in Showdown.
• If I were losing a lot, I'd go to a take 2 strikes approach. The main reason for this is to get as many walks as possible. For most Showdown pitchers, getting their pitch count up is not really a winning strategy since their stamina is through the roof. But drawing walks (and staying out of double plays) equals free runs.
• If you know you're just not hitting good in a given session, then just bail on Showdown until you're back in a groove.

Question:

• How do you feel about your general fundamentals like plate discipline (swinging only at strikes and mostly only at "your pitch") and PCI placement?

Excellent post. Even doing all these things can still result in more double plays than in other modes because the fielders are cyborgs but it is the only approach that will give you a chance.

You're one of the few people I've seen say this. After the announcement most were like "Pssssh, these are all going to be $20K in a week." However what you say here makes sense to me. I'm not smart enough to figure it out myself, but as I see it, there aren't going to be a ton of people grinding or exchanging from the start to get these cards. The supply might not be as overwhelming as people think. Will be interesting to see what happens as user reviews of the different cards start shaping their value.
