Brilliant post and I completely agree with everything you've said. I absolutely love RTTS and and main liner it every year. This year I was intrigued by the idea of a two way player especially playing in the NL. I decided to create a SS for my Yankees because Torres is not the future SS.

I really enjoyed playing every fifth day as a SP and then every other day playing as SS. Both loadouts were progressing really well and I was doing some damage at the plate even with equipment bonuses not working. I finally got called up to the bigs and even though I knew I couldn't DH the same day I was pitching I was already thinking long term about a switch to the NL.

Finally the day came where we were playing on the road at the Braves and I was starting pitcher. A light bulb went off in my head as I started at the loadout selection screen, I can only select one loadout so what happens to all of my insane hitting attributes in game. The answer was the end to the last remaining bit of immersion, my guy steps up to the plate and has 50 contact and 50 power base attributes as opposed to close to 100 in each for my hitter loadout. My SS is the best hitter in the league and here I am at the plate having suffered temporary amnesia and have forgotten how to hit.

1-3 at the plate on the day with my only hit being a grounder in the gap to get a single. Also had a perfect prefect die at the warning track, if it had of been my SS it would've gone a mile.

I don't know how this made it through testing, simple solution is being able to activate 2 loadouts for games - one hitter and one pitcher.

@glencurran_PSN To your original post, I fully agree. Once you hit "play next" from the main locker room screen, there's no going back. And it's not until you have already hit "play next" that you see what your role is going to be in the next game. I'm not a 2-way player but I imagine this would drive you absolutely nuts.

An alternative method which may help you, and may not be as cumbersome as keeping multiple saves, use the Calendar instead of the "Play Now" view. If you are when pitching a SP (not sure how you would be a RP and a two-way player actually) then the game should show you if you are starting or not. If you are not, have your batting/fielding archetype (whatever that may be) active. If you are slated to be the SP for the game, you can go back from calendar and activate your SP archetype. It's still a bit of a pain in the backside, but seems to me easier than juggling saves.

    Hope this helps.

@Moosealbany_PSN Thanks for the the tips but unfortunately using the calendar doesn't work all the time, as quite a few times the CPU has rested my player the day before I'm due to pitch. This means that I have my hitter loadout active and then I click play next appearance it sims the day before I'm due to pitch and goes straight to the team lineup screen for the the game I'm starting pitcher.

This means I've my hitter loadout selected and can't go back to the club house to select my pitcher loadout without going into the game and quitting out.

Hopefully they apply a patch that works this time and you are able to select your loadout post lineup screen and they actually progress properly.

If it does that I just sim it and then quit the game and then go back in and change my load out because I already know they are going to skip me a game

But if you click "Simulate and Exit" from the in game pause menu then it will sim the game and move onto the next day. This means you've missed your day as a starting pitcher.

The only way to replay the day is to "Close the application/ Dashboard" because we don't have control over the manual saves so we can't just load up a previous save and select the correct loadout, right?

I always make a backup save

I didn't know that was possible, thanks for that. I'll try that today 👍

Okay so with last weeks patch not fixing loadout progress we still have to finesse the system to change loadouts and get them to track progress.

Right now for me if I change loadout in the clubhouse before clicking the "Play next appearance", I get my progress.
I keep an eye on the calendar so I know when I'm going to be starting pitcher but some times the game decides to rest you so when you click "Play next appearance" it brings you to the day that you're starting pitcher and you have your "Hitter" loadout active.

At the lineup screen you have three options "Play Game", "Sim to next appearance" and "Sim this Appearance". If you click play game it prompts you to select your loadout, the problem here as we all know is selecting your loadout from here will not track progress. So you select your loadout and enter the game with the plan of quitting out, selecting the correct loadout from the club house prior to hitting play next appearance.

Here you encounter the next problem, the in game menu doesn't have a "quit" option. It has a sim and quit so therefore if you want to play as pitcher and track progress you have to "Close the application/ Dashboard" and then load it back up.

Apologies for the long post but I've finally gotten to the point. All of the above can be avoided if the lineup screen has a simple "O Back/ B Back" option so that you can go back into the clubhouse and select the correct loadout. There is one on the screen after the lineup one where you select your loadout but that's too late.

    Ok, rant over 😁

@whiskeyone_psn said in Equipment buffs still not working:

For RTTS are you guys seeing the attribute bonuses from the gear show up above each base attribute? Because I see mine but it's obvious it isn't actually counting them in game. Like my guy now I know it only says 72 overall because it's not counting the gear bonuses into the overall but I had assumed it was still giving the bonuses while playing. I should have plus 80 contact, power and vision with gear but trying to hit it's obvious it's only the 60ish base attributes. WTF!

Yeah definitely not counting for me either even though above the attribute it says the bonus from gear + base attribute.

In DD my guy can hit bombs but without the bonus in RTTS I'm hitting doubles and warning track shots.

I got this earlier twice on the same game, I just simmed to the day after the problem game and everything worked fine for me.

  • How long does it take..
  • glencurran_PSNG glencurran_PSN

Did the Yankees on beginner to see how long it would take to win World Series. Regular season took me about 4 hours and post season took another 2 hours so. 14 TA points for regular season and 30 for post season, 6 hours total for 44 TA points.

Also quick tip, at some point the game will ask if you want to watch a prospect closely with an eye on them for a call up, DON'T SELECT A SP as the next game you will have to pitch an entire 9 inning game in AAA and then when he gets promoted you will have to pitch an entire 9 inning game in his first MLB start. This alone takes almost an hour to do these games.
