I'm trying to play through it now... been looking for perks, but can't see how it works yet. Does this mean "Showtime" has become something like a platinum piece of gear beyond a "stub" wall? Won't like that... showtime gives my player a chance to be a hero at least once a game. Doesn't always work out, but when it does, it feels great and builds on the character's story.

Let me say that I am primarily a RTTS player. It's the only mode I play, and I've been playing it for a long time... so a couple comments on the current incarnation.
One of the things I loved about RTTS is that it was MY player. It was a guy I dreamt up and gave a backstory to. I decided on his makeup, I decided on the rules of play for him (i.e. "only power swings allowed, but on a 2 strike count will only contact swing). I struggled with guys.. I watched guys grow. Then the change came when we could no longer be drafted in the high rounds. The reason? MLB The Show wanted to push the "against all odds" options. Okay... I wasn't that happy with that, but I could live with it and live with the "this guys is making someone a lot of money" commentary.
But MLB The Show seems to be continuing to spiral down this rabbit hole. One of the reasons I stopped playing NBA2K was the storylines. I didn't want to be just a puppet on a narrative that the developers wanted to push. If I want that I'll play a linear RPG
But I see this in the MLB 2021... I create a catcher. That's what I want my guy to play. But suddenly, I'm being told I'm a two way player. No. That's not what I wanted. Then there comes all the commentary about him being two way, and was he a safe draft pick etc.. eventually I do get to tell the team "No. I'm a catcher, not a two way player" and the result are interviews about my player giving up two way and focusing on one discipline and that it might have been too hard at the major league level. It then questions if the team wasted a pick on my player having chosen him so high because of the expected two-way nature. What a thing to weave into the narrative about my player.... or is it my player any longer?
Please, I hope someone reads this and at least gives us the option to continue to use OUR imagination when generating a new player and playing them as we see fit. I don't want to be forced to play the developer's narrative. I mean, whose story is it anyway? I just don't want to be filling in and playing someone else's story. I really don't want to see MLB2021 become a mirror of any 2K like "mini movies" - or at least, if you want to do that, please give us to option to opt out and just build and play a normal traditional RTTS player.
Hope this makes sense... thank you!
