PSA - Nothing to do with The Show 20 but still important
  • cavalier_0013_PSNC cavalier_0013_PSN

I figured I'd throw this out there.

I'm cautious with my online presence. I don't do social media and I limit my website registrations.

I started receiving thousands of spam e-mails this morning....and I mean thousands. I got over 3500 in the space of 10 minutes. I was suspicious of this activity and looked at the e-mail they were sent to. I have nothing important on that e-mail, it's just a general use e-mail, but I remembered that my PayPal account was on that e-mail. It was an older account and I rarely used it so it escaped my notice. I had not turned on 2 step notification.

Turns out, someone managed to hack the password to the account and sent themselves a large sum of money. The e-mail spam was to cover up the e-mail from PayPal that tells you that you just made a transaction. I mean, who will check out 3000+ emails. Disputed it, and not worried about it being returned to me.

PSA - make sure you have 2 step authentification if available, and if you ever get an email storm, check out your accounts, including PayPal, Amazon (and other online retailers), and any such accounts that are associated with the email being spammed and that have any direct or indirect interaction with your money.

Just throwing this out there so no one gets caught by these scamming / hacking bastiches.

  • Possible new game mode suggestion for MLB 22 - "Offline" Ranked
  • cavalier_0013_PSNC cavalier_0013_PSN

One thing that I've always hope they would implement is an "offline" version of Ranked Seasons.

    The idea in a nutshell.....

You first of all need to "lock in" a team for that entire season, so you cannot swap out cards. Pitchers have stamina just like in ranked seasons. There is no overall cap to your team and you build it like you want with the players you want. You also cannot forfeit out of the current season or restart. Seasons last as long as the RS ones and start and end at the same time.

The tiers are the same as they currently are.......but unlike Ranked, after each season, you go back down to Spring Training and re-pick your team and commit to that season. What you face is based on your current tier and you move up tiers after a certain amount of wins.

Spring Training - Rookie game mode, all bronze CPU team + 3 random silvers - 2 wins and you move to Regular Season
Regular Season - Veteran game mode, all silver CPU team + 3 random golds - 5 wins and you move to All-Star
All-Star Season - All-Star game mode, 50% silver, 50% gold CPU team, 5 wins and you move to Pennant Race
Pennant Race - All-Star game mode, all gold CPU team + 3 random diamonds (89 max), 5 wins and you move to Wild Card Race
Wild Card Race - All-Star game mode, 50% gold CPU team, 25% diamonds (89 max) and 25% diamonds (90+), 5 wins and you move to Division Series
Division Series - All-Star game mode, all diamond CPU team, 5 wins and you move to Championship Series
Championship Series - Hall of Fame game mode, all diamond CPU team + 3 guaranteed 99 diamonds, 5 wins and you move to World Series
World Series - Legend game mode, 50% random diamond team (85 to 99), 25% diamond (90+) and 25 diamond (99), 3 wins and you get the WS reward.

So total 35 wins to get the WS level and given you need to play all 9 innings, a substantial time investment needs to be done. I figure about 35 - 45 minutes per game, so a good 24 hours of time invested.

Same rewards as in RS but you earn them after you beat that "level", so you need to win 3 in WS to get the WS. All teams you face are randomly generated each game, and it is a 50/50 chance to be home or away.

For those who prefer to play "offline" DD, this offers them something different to do than constantly playing meaningless vs. CPU games and repetitive conquest games. To prevent exploiting the system, you CANNOT get rewards from both "PvP" RS and "PvE" RS, so no double dipping.

This may not meet with unanimous community love, but I thought I'd throw this out there anyways. I personally think this would be a win/win.

  • Topps Now Kyle Higeshioka
  • cavalier_0013_PSNC cavalier_0013_PSN

    Dear SDS,

You shall be receiving in the coming days a self addressed stamped envelope which I would greatly appreciate that, upon reception, you would insert a hard copy of the Kyle Higeshioka Topps Now card please.

Once I have received said card, I shall proceed to burn it to ashes, grind those ashes into a fine powder, burn it again to ensure complete and irrevocable destruction, and place the remains in a sealed container.

I have already chartered a place on the next resupply launch for the ISS for the remains to be placed in a cube-sat which shall then be ejected into space with the included PAM where, hopefully, if my calculations are correct, it will be caught in the Sun’s gravitational pull where it will be consumed in the fusion reaction.

    Thank you.

45 mins and still not done with that mission. Every other one done in 1 try. That card is pure trash.....for me at least!

  • Who else hates the playoffs?!
  • cavalier_0013_PSNC cavalier_0013_PSN

I pretty much hate everything about MtO. Long, drawn out, no variety and very repetitive. They payoffs are just nightmare inducing to me now.

Double points made this mode palatable at least.....now, it's just mind numbingly boring with little to show for it.

Maybe institute the mercy rule.......you winning by in the 6th inning, game over. Right now, I, along with a lot of others I take it, get a 2 run lead and just bunt/bunt/bunt to end the inning quickly to have to go through it again.....and again......and again......and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and a...sorry, was on autopilot there for a sec.

For 50 or so TA points, the mode should take maybe 3 to 4 hours tops.....on par with Showdowns.

  • How do we feel about moments?
  • cavalier_0013_PSNC cavalier_0013_PSN

I just finished the Yelich 3 HR for extreme. It was the last thing I needed. It took me about 12 hours to complete.

    2 things come from this....

    1. When I finally finished it, I felt no joy, no elation, no “Yeeessssss!” moment, just relief. No happiness for having done something difficult.

    2. Because each at-bat is important, and that, in the 3 HR mission, a single is the same as a double is the same as a triple is the same as a walk is the same as a HPB is the same as an out, I find that I have reverted to a worse version of myself, a version that swings at everything, that swings at balls on a 3-0 count to stretch the at-bat. You should come out of these as a better player, not a worse one.

  • If You Maxed Out The 1st Inning Program.....
  • cavalier_0013_PSNC cavalier_0013_PSN

    Aaron Judge.

As to the program XP, I am beyond frustrated that since the last 5 days, any XP I earn is baiscally useless and null and void.

I am purposefully avoiding finishing up certain missions / conquests / Archetypes so I do not lose out on certain amounts of XP.

What this means is that I cannot enjoy the game because I need to manage my XP accumulation so as to not find myself in the situation where i am unable to get significant the next program(s) because I wasted XP. I know that I am losing gameplay XP, but I refuse to lose out on chunks, like 11K XP for the Diamond Archetype level 100 reward, because SDS chose to tie in my XP gains to the inning programs without any means of carry over.

I would suggest that they allow a "carry over pool" of say, 25k to 50k XP that when you finish the current program, you can fill in that pool and that you can apply it to the next program, or it gets converted into a voucher that you can apply to the program of your choice.

  • Jackie Robinson missions. Take notes SDS.
  • cavalier_0013_PSNC cavalier_0013_PSN

@tfrog76 said in Jackie Robinson missions. Take notes SDS.:

I don't know how, but I finished all the offline missions by some major miracle. The two doubles and a stolen base was the hardest one for me, oddly.

But I want to point out a few things, if anyone at SDS is paying attention.

    1. It would be nice for players who haven't beat these challenges if you let Robinson actually get a full leadoff, or extend his leadoff in these moments before the pitcher starts his windup. Especially when you are accelerating the counts to 1-1 2-2, etc. Not cool. Nothing like needing a stolen base to beat a challenge and the pitcher starts his windup before you can get a lead properly.

    2. Stop making completing a program contingent upon playing completing some things online. Sure, you can get the Robinson diamond card if you beat all the offline and conquest challenges, but to get the rewards beyond that, you are forced to play online. And as a 40-something year-old player, I don't want the toxic nonsense that comes along with it. Give us the option to complete these offline if we choose. Tons of other customers are saying the same thing on here today.

    3. I noticed that there were some offline missions left uncompleted in Jackie Robinson's Stage 1 of this program. But because I completed 35 Program points/stars/whatever in them, I cannot go back and get those points even if I complete those goals.

Huh? What kind of nonsense is that? Really?

Anyway, my two cents, and plenty of others on here today are posting the same thing.

Your pleas will fall upon deaf ears when it comes to SDS and you will be raked over the coals by the toxic "online only" players for DARING to suggest that offline players have a way to do things.

I wrote a thread about this a while back. I'd be willing to grind out the online stats offline at a 2:1 or 3:1 conversion rate to.

But ultimately, SDS doesn't give a rats tuchas about casual / offline players.

Just because someone got a prospect card doesn't automatically mean they're gonna get a FS card.

Be happy they got cards AT ALL. Prior to 2020, they wouldn't have.

You hate FS cards or something?

Dunno bout him, but I do.

These 94+ Overall cards that are on par with, and in many cases, surpassing legends of the game, is ridiculous.

They may show glimpses of greatness, but to make these cards endgame is too much, for me anyways.

I would cap them at 89 tops.

Lemme get this straight.....this guy has a LEGIT complaint about people who dashboard, and you tell him to STFU and move on?

It doesn't matter that he could do it via events.....his complaint is legitimate and doesn't deserve to be brushed aside just because YOU feel he needs to move on.

  • Strike Out 10 batters and don't give up a home run.
  • cavalier_0013_PSNC cavalier_0013_PSN

This has to be the most asinine mission I’ve ever seen.

It is short of impossible to compoete unless you actually have good RNG luck.

I score 8 to 10 runs in the mission, no problem. I get the K’s by the 6th inning but even those are hard with the size the PCI the CPU gets. I get a [censored] [censored] homerun in the 8th or the 9th on a pitch that was perfect release but “drifts” right into the middle of the [censored] zone. A low and inside sinker does not magically become a center cut [censored] meatball when your release is perfect on the top and bottom.

This has to be the worst mission design ever. You are literally at the mercy of the RNG so your skill matters little.

At least add an extra homerun after the 5th inning to at least to alleviate the absolute dumpster fire that is the RNG in this game. You’ve already made the Yelich and Gehrig missions as much luck based as skilled base, these other ones don’t deserve to be like that. You’ve modified the sliders in those first 2 missions so that the pitcher throws more balls, to the point where on a 3 and 0 count he will throw a slider inside and hit you (since you most likely put that slider all the way to the left), so why, for the love of all that is [censored] holy, must you also make a mission where the RNG is the final determining factor?

Am I bitter right now? You bet your [censored] asses I am bitter. I’ve lost this 3 times in the 8th or 9th inning, and I have nothing to show for it except pure frustration.

Extreme is supposed to be about a challenge, about needing to take your skill to the next level, not rolling a [censored] d20 and hoping you make your saving throw.

I’d apologize about the profanity, but I’m too pissed off right now to give a damned.

  • To offline players
  • cavalier_0013_PSNC cavalier_0013_PSN

The whole online vs offline play has been going on for years now. Only SDS has the answer since they have the metrics, but I would be curious as to where the majority of their revenue stream is coming from.

Casual players and "hardcore offline" players (I place myself in the latter) prefer to play offline because, in general, we are looking to have an enjoyable time playing the game our way, on our difficulty setting without having to worry about possible cheaters, freeze-offs, connection issues and the general "toxicity" that seems to come out of online play.

Now before you ask, as a matter of full disclosure, while I love offline and would play it almost exclusively, I am not averse to the online portion, but I play it at the strictist minimum and not a single game more than I need to in order to obtain what I want.

While I think many in the online community are decent enough people and want to play against another person as a way to test their skill, there are those who want to abuse the mechanics as much as possible, and generally make the game as unenjoyable as possible for their opponent because their only goal is to win at all costs. Now I know I am generalizing here, but that crowd is usually the younger crowd, the less "mature" crowd.

The best comparision I can make is a PvE vs PvP environment. Most people prefer a PvE environment because they just don't like to have their gameplay experience ruined by someone else who is intent on having fun at someone elses expense. An old game I used to play, Ultima Online, at one point decided to "split" the world into a mirror image of itself, Felucca and Trammel, with Trammel being the PvE only world. Overnight, Felucca became a barren wasteland because people prefered to play without PvP and when they wanted some PvP would simply go to the Felucca shard to get their fix.

This game is no different. I think both communities can co-exist, and I think SDS has an obligation to ensure that both can get what they want out of this game. There needs to be an offline RS mode (I made a post about that several weeks back) for the offline community so that vs CPU has more meaning. Those that refuse to play online except say events and the occasional BR won't invest money into the game to play a mode they refuse to, but I suspect that many of them would invest a few $$$ more to get some better cards in order to play an offline mode that gives them a REASON to play and a goal to work towards.
