It’s unacceptable how bad online play is (this year especially). I’ll never understand how Battlefield can have up to 70 players in the same lobby, flying jets, driving tanks, blowing up buildings, vehicles driving all over the place, with just constant action/motion going without a single issue. Yet The Show can’t have a game where it’s just two people throwing and hitting a ball back and forth without massive lag, freeze offs, pitches glitching outside the zone, etc.
I’m not one of those 1000 rated goons, but I am an above average WS player who hits around .325 overall. This year the timing windows online are just miserable, almost nonexistent at times. There will be pitches that I KNOW I should be getting to with excellent timing, yet my pci doesn’t get to the ball and I’m “late” on a 94 mph FB that I anticipated already.
I’m a competitive guy, it’s the reason I enjoy playing online. I use to get so bent out of shape with bad results, loses, RNG blatantly going in my oppent’s favor, etc. Last year I finally told myself to just enjoy it for what it is. Which is a fairly decent baseball game, lots of good content, an enjoyable offline experience (even though the offline grind can get monotonous), and that online will be a [censored] shoot 75% of the time.
Unless you’re a streamer or someone who has the luxury to play 4-6+ hours a day and get a solid feel for the inconsistency with online play, it’s just not worth getting upset over.
Again, I’ll never understand how SDS has absolutely known about their server instability issues for YEARS, yet let it fall to the wayside every single game release.
