Hey everyone. Just following up with this. I bought a PS portal to give it a try and worst comes to worst, I’ll return it. Cool concept but the reviews were correct. Actually playing the gameplay is very very hard with lagging. Tried MLB25 and CFB26. Both pretty bad timing. I could see using it to recruit in CFB and then do some franchise stuff and offseason stuff on The Show but that’s it. Gotta decide if $200 is worth that. Good thing is $200 is not a big number so I might keep it

They also HAVE to bring back contract options and front and back loading. Taking that out of 2025 was mind blowing and 100% opposite of realistic simulation

1020 hours here all on Offline Franchise. I know that’s not how a lot of people play but my dream job is GM of a baseball organization so it’s a cool hobby I do with The Show
Really hope they enhance the details of franchise and go more in-depth (NHL is super in-depth) I am praying they at least come back with backloading and front loading contracts and options. Would also love to see player moral back. Just so much they can do to make it better if they put in the effort
I thought mlb 25 gameplay was best yet, hopefully they just add to it. Maybe work on the AI. If you are patient enough, almost every count went to 3-2 and still glitches in CPU baserunning and pitching changes

@SDS_JoeK_PSN really appreciate your recommendation and opinion. Another guy on here said the same thing and I think that is what I am leaning to now. I am a PlayStation guy and I was trying not to lose that experience but gain a bit of flexibility as well. You telling me this double sold me on the portal so maybe you can tell Sony to give you commission
only thing that worries me is that I have seen a lot of reviews on the lag in the gameplay but maybe they have fixed that -
Nvm. No need to answer this. I am doing my own research on it now. I really appreciate this insight as this is what I’m probably going to do. Let’s me keep the ps5 graphics but gives me a bit of flexibility when I need it. Thanks again

Really appreciate this!!

so with the PlayStation portal. I can be playing franchise mode with regular ps5 on tv and on take that same game and franchise on the portal with Wi-Fi connect? Sorry for questions, I’m not a huge gamer and not a tech guy lol -
@SDS_JoeK_PSN thank you
any feedback with above question? I know you can’t release anything on 26 yet but what about 25? Full franchise was on switch version? -
I am an offline Franchise player only. I recently had my first baby with the hopes of number 2 in the near future. Things might get hectic quickly and time in front of the TV on PlayStation 5 could be tough. Love the The Show tho and it’s my #1 hobby. Tinkering with the idea of getting a Switch2 and getting MLB26 on Switch2. Would be able to play more when I take it into the bedroom or when we travel etc.. 1) is the full version of franchise on the Switch game? Nothing missing? 2) what are the biggest pros and cons of switching? Would it be recommended or stick to the Ps5 and just find the time? Haha.. thanks in advance for your opinion on this

I don’t full disagree at all.. it’d be cool if it was more in depth based off things. Some prospects end up and busts and some progress super fast depending on what level they play at, moral, how they are playing etc… just so much more they can do in the prospect world.. also add international. Just so much missing that real life baseball has
-
I actually saw the prospects progress solid in this year’s game. Kept them in AAA and changed training weekly
️ 66 ovr with B potential to usually grew to close to 70 ovr by 1 season -
With the Rays making a lot of big changes in this offseason, I am pretty sure I’ll be getting the new game come March. At the absolute bare minimum I would like to see contract options back and back loading and front loading

I would also love if they actually had organizations prospects in the game. Multiple top prospects for Rays were not even in the game in 2025 and I had to edit them in. There is so much more I would love to see for franchise but those are total musts.. go look at NHL franchise mode and see how in depth it is -
I play all 162 and most of spring training. I will quick manage rarely if the game is well out of reach starting in 6th inning. My dream job is being a GM of a baseball team so this is how I do that
it does suck how little they focus on Franchise. Lots of details they leave out. Trades are so unrealistic and also budgets as well. I play with Rays and make my own rules and regulations to make it realistic for my team at least. I won’t buy any new model games until Rays new stadium comes UNLESS they bring back year to year saves.. sucks putting a ton of time into a franchise and only being 2.5 or 3 years into it and the new game is coming out and you have to start over -
Agree! I would buy the new game EVERY year but don’t wanna waste all the time I put into franchise. I went from 2020 all the way to 2023 because I was in love with my franchise and having a great time. I don’t sim, I actually play.
-
While the offseason has started and players and teams opt in and opt out of contracts left and right, crazy to think a simulation game in 2025 did not give us that ability 🤯 terrible honestly. Embarrassingly lazy on SDS or just done on purpose for the next game to be bought

I loved this year’s game. Gameplay was awesome! Graphics were solid. The little things they added were very good. I will keep playing this game for years to come because of the lack of care for the little things though
Taking away backloading and front loading contracts along with options was an absolutely insane thing to do and have no idea why they would do that. EVERY contract at MLB has these.
Trace scenarios are still unrealistic and easy to build a dominant team by just giving 2 bad prospects after 1 decent player. I had to make my own rules and regulations for trades to be realistic.
Commentary is awful! Played the first week and then you hear the same stuff over and over again and the same two guys in every game.
Not having player moral is weird. It was in the game a few years back and you really had to make the players happy and care about them. It’s not even a factor anymore.
Check swings are terrible!! Swings that a shoulder flinches they say he went and then swings that his entire body and bat go well past are not swings. Very strange
A bit too much AI. If you play against CPU, almost every AB goes to a 3-2 count if you are patient and most of the time you score a run, the CPU will score the next inning. Love the challenge but also gets old. I play on Legend batting and GOAT pitching.
Player models and face scans. One example of many.. Jonathan Aranda from the Rays was an ALL STAR this year and played a full season last year and they don’t have a picture or realistic look for him. That is mind blowing and I know there are plenty more
Free agency was a big upgrade this season but still not as realistic as they could. Player moral involved and contract options involved are a must.
What I have learned with The Show over the years (I’ve had years 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024 and now 2025) is that each one had major flaws. 2025 has been the best in my opinion but I believe they leave stuff out so you buy the next one the following year. No other reason at all to leave out Contract Options
-
I did it myself and started my franchise after doing it. Last mlb game for a while for me.. lack of care in franchise and realistic simulation is terrible. Game and gameplay is awesome
-
For a “simulation game”, they really do not care about Franchise and they don’t even hide it anymore. I waited for the first roster update to start a franchise. I play with the Rays.. Rays have best farm system in the game and they have several of their top 30 prospects not even in the game

️ I had to manually edit the names to make it real. Several or the Rays MLB players contracts are not even close to being correct. Starting to feel bad for my 3rd base coach because it’s July in my season and he’s still wearing a jacket
also, the trades are maybe a little better than previous games but still way off. You can get very good young talent by just sending the team 3 OK players on your team.. haven’t gotten to offseason yet so we will see how free agency changes are… Just stinks how unrealistic it is and all these topics seem like such easy fixes -
Times have evolved so why be content? I do not care so much about the face scans but not having correct contracts and updated recent trades and contact extensions is very very simple. Legit could be done in a few hours. Since end of spring training, maybe 3 trades have happened and maybe 8 extensions. That would take a coder 10 minutes to do LOL
-
I play with the Rays. Getting older with a kid on the way so probably my last MLB The Show game and want to start a realistic Franchise to play for years to come. Rays rosters is pretty accurate besides a few contracts that are lower than real life which helps me but still unrealistic. I just am looking for a few of the recent trades and then contract extensions like Crochet, Lawerence Butler. Cal Raleigh, Ketel Marte, Kristian Campbell (red sox young guy) Jackson Merrill
-
Sweet! Appreciate the effort. Want to start Franchise but waiting on recent trades and also the recend contract extensions that are going to matter a lot. Started a Franchise already and 3 players were on the trade block that teams extended in real life. Felt so unrealistic from the start that I could not get into it
