It all boils down to a battle of groups here. One side looks at attributes and animations, with the names and appearances being largely irrelevant. The other looks at the same attributes, animations, names and appearances as an actual representation of said player.
If SDS wanted to, they could save money by not buying any rights to former players and instead create whatever fabricated individual characters they wanted. It seems that one group would be more than happy with that, while the other group would hate it.
It's more about a group of people playing a fantasy game mode (DD) complaining about realism while running out Mantle, Reggie and Tatis together.
There is a significant difference between only wanting players who actually played together on the same baseball field, and wanting Micky Mantle, Reggie Jackson, and Fernando Tatis’s abilities accurately portrayed in their attributes. Should Adam Dunn have 125 vision in the game even though he was a strike out king in real life since we’re throwing realism out the door?
If you’re going to collect cards based on a player, it would be nice if the card was based on the player’s abilities or projected abilities. I believe that is the point that is being debated here.
Except when you want Reggie's attributes from 1973, Mantle's stats from 1956 and Tatis' stats from 2019 all on the same field at the same time.
That's pure fantasy foosball and you get what you ask for.
That’s what DD is. If you’re not capable of seeing a difference from what was described to what we are getting with FS, then I don’t really know what to say.

I do see the difference, but that difference is meaningless in DD as you have already opened the fantasy foosball Pandora's box.
If I can field a team of legends who never played together, all with attributes based off their prime seasons (no matter how baseball has changed over those years), then why should I care if some prospects get juiced cards on "what they could do"?
-
If only people cared as much about the gameplay as they do about some cards that will be irrelevant in 2 months. We would probably have a good game by now

Well I think the issue is it didn’t used to be like that. Obviously it still had a fantasy aspect as any team building game like this does, but before immortals every card was based off real statistics. I think a lot of people miss that, myself included. But I also expected this to happen, especially after last year. And looking at other modes like Madden Ultimate Team it’s even more ridiculous. They basically give everyone a 99 by the end of the year.

If they weren’t overpowered nobody would use them and everyone would say the update was trash.
Or they could’ve released 90-93 flashbacks instead of FS and majority would be much more happy. Those 90-93s would be very viable and keep the other cards we have viable.
You do realise we’re in April? I’m hoping we’re seeing the start of a coherent content drop, like ‘17. Early in the year we got Rookies, then Breakouts, followed by All Stars, Veterans and finally Postseason and Hardware. While the FOTF cards are an outlier to an extent, they’re low diamonds 86-89. So, if we start with prospects and future stars now, before moving chronologically forward to the other groups, with the majority of the Prime and SS cards being 99 overalls and not released until later in the year - AKA end game cards at the end of the game - it’s absolutely not a problem. Everyone is complaining they’re making the LS cards irrelevant, but outside of collections, they’re irrelevant every year.
I’m not a fan of cards for guys I’ve never heard of, but I’m a huge fan of keeping the game fresh with line up diversity by way of new content, provided it’s useable for H2H and not just filler [censored] like the platoon hitters and golds we’ve seen in the past, so I’m not going to hate on the content before it’s even released. In a few months these cards will be old news and everyone will be complaining that Aubrey Huff or whoever didn’t deserve a SS card. -

Well yeah, there is that risk of facing him incessantly, I hated Kershaw last year, but from that pack, I took Rickey Henderson first. Then I took Hal Newhouser. Only just this week did I finally take Kluber and I’ve yet to use him as I’ve been playing the event for the last few days and he’s ineligible. My point is, you can play the game however you want to. You don’t have to follow the meta, you don’t have to run Kluber every game and out of the pen just because everyone else does. I chose to take a 95, then a 98, before the 99 Kluber to progress my team organically. I’d have taken Rollie Fingers before Kluber as well, but I don’t need a righty reliever as much as a starter.

Claiming people are crying because they don’t agree with your viewpoint is the “perfect/perfect” fly out of insults. You may think that you crushed it, but it’s going nowhere.
I’d rather have other legends or flashbacks in the game to.

They should have a DD mode and a MiLB mode. Keep these cards separate.
Let people spend time and money between those two modes.
This is INSULTING to players all the way from Trout down to Willians Astudillo.
What's insulting is you insinuating that La Tortuga is the lowest end of the spectrum that should be insulted.... you've clearly never seen the grace and beauty that is captured as races around the bases....

Disagreeing with the status quo is hardly equivalent to tears running down faces. It's an attempt to find a solution to a problem which has become a larger issue with each passing iteration. Some people posting are more passionate than others, sure, but from what I'm seeing it's still a fairly rational discussion.
Claiming someone on the internet you have never met is crying because they have an opposing viewpoint is the go to response from someone that has nothing intelligent to contribute. It's childish and played out. You haven't hurt anyone's feelings. You haven't shot anyone down. No one thinks you're cool or edgy. This isn't elementary school.
The only result is a loss of credibility. Your own. Maybe you don't care about that, which is fine. However, if you want to be taken seriously and sit at the big boy table, you're going to need to grow up and act like it.

Hey, don’t sleep on that Rickey, he’s far from shitty. Done alright for me, even against RHP. Hal isn’t all bad either. But I see your point, most people are taking Kluber, obviously.

This is INSULTING to players all the way from Trout down to Willians Astudillo.
These minor leagues are making maybe a couple hundred thousand a year if they were high draft picks. Trout is making $35 million a year. I can guarantee he doesn't care what anyone's video game stats are.
Even less. That was upfront as a signing bonus, they don't get paid like that for their years of service. It's about $600 a month to play in the minors.

You’re thinking into this way to much
I don’t have an opposing viewpoint so I don’t know why you keep throwing that out there.
And I’m not trying to hurt anyone’s feelings or shoot anyone down. I’m not trying to sound cool or edgy.
And why would I care about losing my credibility on this site where it’s made up of 75% of people who do nothing but [censored] about a game they play religiously?
Later bro
