Pickoffs not working

Last few games I’ve played when I hold L2 to throw to first and press O it just fast pitches and this has cost me dearly. I cannot get it to work. L2 shows it’s engaged but it just fast pitches and won’t throw to the base. Happening to anyone else? I’ve only been playing ranked so not sure if it’s happening elsewhere

@TheJeweledLotus_PSN pickoffs have never worked for me in my last 8 years of playing this game I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a successful pickoff. They work for everybody I play against tho.

@Onix_Savage22_PSN im not talking about having an unsuccessful attempt, im saying it wont throw to the base it just keeps fast pitching to the batter instead

@TheJeweledLotus_PSN oh I’ve never had that issue could maybe be a controller issue that’s a weird one.l2 is also the slide step button.

I looked it up on the mlbtheshow Reddit sub and apparently it’s a widespread issue , I hadn’t had it happen til a couple days ago. More bugs that make the game unplayable , great

I've had that issue too. Then I noticed it seems to happen when I've selected the pitch corresponding with "O" on the controller. If I choose other pitches it works ok.

@thejeweledlotus_psn unfortunately this has happened to me all year, this is the first year ever. It’s gotten so bad I just step off now instead of trying to pitch out. I tried last season and lost in the 9th on a wild pitch and his runner scored from second. Many issues with this broken game unfortunately.

I am also having this issue. They changed something about the controls this year and added a thing where it like... slows down time for your pitch? Or something? Which I don't MIND being present, but they should've assigned it to a different button.
