What Am I Doing Wrong With Stealing?

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong with stealing. As I understood it -- and as worked for me last year -- when there are runners on first and third and you only want the runner on first to steal, on a Playstation you move the left joystick to the right to highlight the runner on first and hold down the L2 button. But every time I do that, both runners take off. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

That’s the way I always understood it. Maybe you’re not keeping the L stick pointing there when you push L2. Maybe you’re releasing the stick before pushing L2. Also, just tap L2. Don’t hold it down. I am a switch user but I expect the same inputs to work that way.

You’re releasing the joystick before L2.
Should be joystick in, tap L2, joystick release

@macdaddy-o_PSN You don’t hold it down. That makes all runners go. Hold joystick to the runner you want to steal and hit L2 once.

For me, I click the circle button, then R2 to steal.
