Ideal input lag
-
There's no such thing as 1ms input lag when it comes to monitors. The correct terminology is 1ms response time, which is a marketing term and is not even remotely close to 1ms input lag.
-
God I hate when people pretend they know what they’re talking about and give false information.
There is a difference between 1ms response time and input lag. They are NOT the same

I am a PC gamer with a nice 1440p monitor that can give me 165 FPS. None of that means diddly when playing on my PS4. My PS4 can do 1080p at 60 fps which is about a 9.1 ms input lag on my monitor. Even though when I game at 1440p and 165 fps on my PC I get a 4.1ms input lag.

I guess I’ll try hooking up my PS4 pro to my monitor and see if I can tell a difference. Just sucks going from a 65” tv to like a 24” monitor. Love being able to sit back and relax in my gaming chair cause I can see the big tv easily. Now I’ll have to sit up straight and be closer to the monitor lol. Guess that’s the price I gotta pay to be l33t

So are we trying to get under 10.0 ms? What the general number to try and shoot for?
-
Anywhere in the 10-14 range is good

Realistically at 60hz and 60 FPS 9.1 is about the fastest I have ever seen. I am sure someone can get better, but that is probably realistically it. On normal LED type panels.

Thank you guys

Lol, hope we helped some. This battle occurs almost every week. But I hate the idea that guys are going out and spending 150-400 extra dollars on something that will not help them.

That said though, spending a bit more on a 120hz monitor would come in handy for the PS5

Hopefully. From what I have read yes. Like I said my monitor can do up to 165hz and I would love to use that on a console. With Gsync
-
That’s good to know. I’m assuming my monitor has to have a better input lag on it that my Samsung tv, so at least I already have that for when the ps5 comes out. And now that you mention Gsync, my monitor does have that as well. Is that gonna help at all now, or only on the ps5?

What TV do you have? I dont think either console can take advantage of Nvidia Gsync this generation.

I don’t know the exact model of my Samsung unfortunately and I’m at work for a couple more hours. I know it’s a 2018, 4K 65” with 244 refresh rate I think and has game mode and HDR I don’t have HDR on tho because I was told it causes lag. Correct me if I’m wrong tho.
