The game should just have a matchmaking option that says I want to play on "this" difficulty. Period. Shouldn't be that hard.
I agree. You should be able to make WS playing on any difficulty and match make based on difficulty chosen independent of difficulty. In this way, you can play at whatever difficulty is more fun. Maybe with the ability to earn more points with a higher difficulty win. If it’s about competition it won’t matter the difficulty as long as it is the same as the opponent and equal playing ground.
You should be able to make it to world series only playing on veteran? Bad take..
Yes, because it makes it more accessible to more people and you will be playing on veteran vs a higher caliber player AND playing on veteran won’t yield as many pts in a win so it will take longer.
I bet you’ve never played competitive sports in your life. This is an awful take. Ranked season is a competitive format. It’s accessible to everyone who makes their way up.
This thought process makes me cringe.
Actually i have. At a very elite level. That might be why I don’t have the need to demonstrate my specialness via a video game. In real sports you don’t change entire rules as you move up. Do we make the mind closer. No. Not to mention this just a simulation
This isn’t about proving specialness at all. I could care less what people think about myself as a player. I want to play a game that is challenging and rewards good input, while also being competitive.
If you don’t mind me asking, what do you define as an “elite level”? I’m genuinely curious because your thoughts align with someone who believes in participation trophies.
Elite level in my case is beating Olympians in practice and almost Olympians in completion. But to me elite is what you make of it. If someone says they are elite...ok cool you are elite.
I agree with I don’t think that I or anyone should dictate what your gaming experience is. If you like the highest difficulty setting go for it. I just don’t think anyone should dictate to me. All completion is fair as long as the same setting is applied to all parties.
So you playing on hall of fame past 700 isn’t the same setting applied to all parties? Ok I gotcha
Yes...I am not arguing fairness. I am arguing fun. It’s just NOT fun for me. I like winning, but because this isn’t real life and I am playing for fun I prefer to win while having fun. It’s not like it’s my job it’s entertainment. If I were paid to win it would be different.
I think the problem for you in particular is that you are paid to win and you are not. So you are taking that real life energy and applying it to a video game.
So because you’re not having fun we need to cater to you specifically because you can’t hack it on hall of fame?
Just got my first college head coaching job so we’ll see how it goes!
-
I know how it will go. But how on earth did you get a head coaching job. It’s not because of your winning program...oh wait...participation Trophy...LMAO. I can’t wait to hear the lockerroom speech. “ well boys I have a subpar record but I am killer at video games. Here is my trophy. So we will see how it goes”
-
Yes I want the game catered to me. I also wanted catered to as many people as possible including sub par coaches. That is why we have different difficulty levels and varying hitting, pitching and feilding interfaces. It’s catering to us. And it makes the experience more fun
-
It has nothing to do with hacking it on HOF. It has to do with it being fun on HOF. I have wonn plenty of games that just aren’t fun
-
-
Now that I have Maverick on ignore (first person!) I'm hoping we can get this back
-
I am glad he is ignoring me because he was getting destroyed by me and I was feeling bad for him. I guess it’s good practiced because he will be getting destroyed as a coach. Truth is too painful for some people
-
Or just some indication of the level we're playing on before the game starts
-
@QNEEK said in Opponent rating:
Fill me in please. Where did you see the level in the past? I've never noticed. The only way I could tell that we matched up HOF was the pci size.
You didn't. He is just trying to be cool. He pretends it has to do with what level he is playing on. But if that mattered he would actually agree with my system where you search for games on the level of your choosing.
He just likes to be able to pretend he is better than anyone. It helps him live with being a mediocre athlete and a subpar coach better.
For example if you say the pitch speed is too fast or that Hitter A isn't hitting well for you. He will say...well you are not an elite WS player so you wouldn't understand. Its very annoying and petty.

Why isn't the rating next to the person's name on the opening screen? Have that and their record. That way there's no need to have to jump on TSN to try to find their rating -- keep it all in one place.

Way back in the day you used to be able to see records/batting average/rating on guys universal profiles on the site and then they started taking stuff away, last year you could only see rating, now you can’t see anything

That's something I wouldn't have a problem with at all. It's just a simple user interface request I think it's reasonable to ask for SDS to do that.

Because the entire system enabled disgusting behavior from people like Skepple. Plus its meaningless. For example last year and even this year. I would do Affinity innings with some crappy players just to rack up innings. I would take way more Ls than usual and my BA dips. Then I would switch to my Good team and all of sudden I am winning and I make WS.
People like Skepple would look at my record and by like he is horrible because a dude like him is so desperate to win that he couldn't conceive of the possibility dudes might not being playing to win every game.

I gotcha. I remember seeing people's profiles, just never applied it to anybody I was currently matched up with. The only time I use this site is when i'm away from the game.

That's why I'm not 100% behind it being accessible on the website. Or, at least, have an opt-out option.
If it's on the opening screen when you match up with someone, then it's all good, I think.
But, you know, that would leave the door open for SDS to screw something else up with this game. Save it for next year, I guess.

Yea, they started taking things away from it because some people don’t like having their stats seen, if it’s not on the site that’s fine with me, just put the rating on the opening screen of the match where it shows record, that’s the easiest and best solution, I just want to play on hall of fame as much as I can and avoid all star

Same is true for him. He doesn't use it in game. He uses it so he can put down people who have a different opinion. His favorite tool is now gone so he can't put down your opinion as easily. He has to argue on his own merits. And when he can't...well...in my case he ignored me. Probably for the better.

Hey if people quote mav I can still see what he says, interesting.
If I wanted trash someone for their record I can literally do that right now by looking it up in the game... not really relevant to what’s wanted here.

[censored]... He hurt you bro? Lol

Seems like it would be a simple solution.
For sure, put it up on the opening screen beside your record, or even take the record out and just have the rating there, it would probably cut down on the number of friendly quits that get asked for, win-win
