Does in game fielding badge do anything

Does this badge do anything or is it just a way to tell if a player is a good defender or not in game?

Tells how good the defender is, and the shield is fielding only. the shield on the card is a combination of all 4 (green bars)

The higher the fielding rating, the better animations he gets. So a diamond fielder will get better animations than a gold will and so on.

not true. seems bronze fielders are gold glovers and diamond fielders are commons. specially in the corners. I swear Guerrero Jr. looks like Arenado out there.

The CPU doesnt count. I'm using Vlad jr. at third, and trust me, he's brutal.

A guy could have silver or gold defense overall on their card, but if their "fielding" part of the defense is 90 or higher they will have the diamond blue shield on field. So to answer your question, it only shows you how good their fielding is, not their arm, arm accuracy or reaction.
So that also means a defender can have a diamond arm, arm accuracy and reaction, but if they have a 68 fielding rating then they will have a bronze badge on field underneath them. -
