Make Content Great Again: Ideas to improve upon 2025's content
-
I have a lot of ideas how to tweak the content model to make for a better user experience, better balance of players/legends, while recognizing the elephant in the room that Sony wants $$
I will split these into subtopics to avoid an extremely long wall of text
Spotlight program has been in place the last two years. This year added in a retro lightning card. This has been quite pack heavy, with finite numbers of packs released.
-
Return Monthly Awards to its own program. This program should aim to have every position represented, including the full 7 relievers. This program should not be trivial to complete and it would be considered major (Friday) content. No packs. One captain.
-
Return Topps Now to Tuesday. Do not limit this to a rigid x cards per week, allow some flexibility.
-
Add retro spotlight cards to the Topps Now release. This solves a couple problems: it lets SDS better balance theme teams (so yes, expect rockies pitchers that had a good month to be frequent highlights) as well as guys that had good months on teams they dont often get cards for. And yes, these are fine as packs. They don't need to be big (as small as 3 base, 1 rare), and yes the rare card(s) would be a bigger name. The Topps now program topper would be one of these packs.
More topics to come....

If they’re packs there’s seriously no point. -

If they’re packs there’s seriously no point.I do think there is a point to packs:
- Keeps Papa Sony happy with potential revenue
- Good for future rewards

Rather than flood the message board with topics, I'll just post the next thing here
INNINGS
-
The cards in the rewards track should be high end cards and the best cards released on the inning drop day.
-
Innings should have a themed set. WBC is a perfect example. Other posters have ideas for different sets. And of course stuff like Finest, AS/retro All star, etc
-
Innings should be 5 weeks. That puts the 10th inning as the forever with 7 weeks until the next game's release, allowing for content to go a bit deeper past early November
-
Innings need to launch with content. I would propose a set of large conquest maps, similar to the 3 that the game launched with last year, or even the USA map. These can be recycled with new rewards if it helps on development time
-
What I have in my head is something like this: day 1 Theme program. The other 4 Fridays would be the monthly awards from the above post, a second theme program drop w/ mini season, an open week for seasonal/special sets (like easter for example, or moonshot), and weekend classic (ideally on the last weekend of the season, but can be 4th if the monthly awards lines up for fifth)
-
The weekend classic weekend is also when SDS can drop things like the Yu Darvish program as well as DQ and conquests so the offline players have things to do
-
More to come on these themed sets in a later post
