Random team Creation..
-
It is that time of year again, where 99s are everywhere and it is fun to mix it up...
Using a Spin wheel, with every 99 card AND every legend (even if they don't have a 99 yet), I crafted a team based on those cards to see how lucky (or unlucky) I was. This is what I ended up with.
C - Hunter Goodman (Finest)
1B - Jason Giambi (Awards)
2B - Brice Turang (POTM) - I was excited about landing this one
SS - Anthony Volpe (POTM) =(
3B - Nolan Arenado (Finest)
LF - Willi Castro (New Threads)
CF - Jim Edmonds (Awards STL)
RF - Reggie Sanders (Signature Series)
DH - Jackson Merrill (Neon)(I had a bench too, but didn't want to get too carried away)
Pitching was a little Rough
Matt Cain (SS) =(
George Kirby (PS)
Rodon (Finest)
Stephen Kolak (POTM)
Kerry Wood (AS) Unfortunately, it is his best card and I feel every legend deserves a chance to be pickedBullpen
Andrian Morejon (POTM
Andres Munoz (Finest)
Emmanuel Clase (Awards)
Joe Nathan (Milestone)
Jonathan Loisaga (Halloween)
Chad Patrick (PS)
Roki Sasaki (PS)
Tyler Holton (PS)Again, these were completely random using the spin wheel, and I usually try to do multiple things with these random teams...
- How well does the team hold up in Ranked Seasons?
- Could it make WS? How far could you go?
- Who is the best hitter on your new team? (Is it someone you've never used before?)
- What strengths and weaknesses does your team have?
- After so many games, I sometimes respin for certain players that are hitting lower to try and find a new person at that position.
- What ranking would you give this team as a whole?
Long story short, it is just something new to try to break up the God Squads and same ol, same ol this time of year.. I know

Kerry Wood milestone anyone?

I just saw him. Thank you. Didn't notice him the first time around but will pick up and add him to team. The idea was to get that players. BEST version. That's why there isn't sets next to the names.

Ive got a snow day today so ill try this. Heres what I got:
Catcher: Jason Varitek
1st base: Charlie Condon
2nd base: Alfonso Soriano
SS: Honus Wagner
3B: Ryan Zimmerman
LF: Taylor Ward
CF: Lorenzo Cain
RF: Roman Anthony
Bench: Yandy Diaz, Daulton Varsho, Michael Helman, Tyler O'Neill
Rotation: Rube Foster, Roger Clemens, Hal Newhowser, Drew Rasmussen, Andy Cooper
Bullpen: Abner Uribe, Gabe Speier, Craig Kimbrel, Cade Smith, Jared Koenig, Matt Svanson, Felix Bautista, Aroldis Chapman (Using his 97 since the 99 has no energy) -
I like this because there's so many cards that I never get to.. hence why id like a sort by parallel toggle

Got the win with the random team. I started Drew Rasmussen, but he gave up 5 in 2 1/3 so I went to Andy Cooper out of the bullpen. Andy went 4 2/3 and only gave up 3, and my offense clawed back to win 10-9. It was a fun team build and I might come back to it later if im getting bored

Pretty solid teams that were created. Glad I wasn't the only one that tried to find different ways to play with some of the lesser used cards..
Interestingly enough,
Most Valuable Player was Jason Giambi... I didn't know how good he was.. He is harder to use online because of all the Left handed pitching, but his swing is really nice...
Least Valuable was Reggie Sanders. I just can't figure him out
My final plan with these random teams is to create 2 different squads and try to play 10 games with each to see which one has a better record... 7-3, 6-4, etc.. Kind of makes it more like a baseball simulation with certain players standing out and others being definite issues (especially pitchers)...
