Ive never has so much trouble hitting vs CPU on rookie as much as I've had in MLB the Show 25.

Previous games I could score 20+ runs even during first month.

It seems like the sliders are messed up. There's no way being a diamond 85 to 99 can't hit commons or bronzes constantly. Especially in Coors.

Timing hitting vs CPU is broken. Especially on rookie.

As someone that plays both 25 and 23 I go back and forth on if they nerfed timing hitting. I think the problem is mostly with the pitching

The pitchers absolutely throw around the edges more, and timing doesnt do well there.

I do seem to hit better against silvers and golds than I do bronzes and commons. I feel the toughest Sosa moment is against a bronze.

@Jacky-Chan1_XBL, @Teak2112_MLBTS, do you use timing with buttons or do you use the stick to swing? When I used Timing, I found more success with the stick; anecdotal, of course, but being able to choose in, middle, or out by the angle at which you flicked the stick seemed to improve my chances with pitches on edges and corners (and it was more fun). I just wonder if that would be an option to try…

I switched to Zone late last year because I couldn’t keep up in ranked with the rate HRs were hit using Zone (I decided to join ‘em), but played Timing with sticks for years like that.

I use buttons, never thought to try stick. But my biggest issue is timing itself

Which brings me to a realization I made today:

'just late' and 'just early' pitches (on the batter UI, not necessarily the pitch map you can look at in the menus) in 2023 would be put into play most of the time. In 2025 they typically show up as 'good' timing on the edge of the green are automatic foul balls. This actually I believe helps the player as the results on those swings are a mixed bag, but at the expense of making at bats even more tedious than they already are

SImply put, timing hitting is more tedious in 2025 than 2023. The CPU pitching is a factor, but the increased foul balls on pitches that should be in play on just early/late swings is also a big factor.

Hitting seems harder this year than any other year. Ive definitely noticed a difference. There is very little room for error. Meaning now.. if you are not completely squaring up the ball its an out. Even when you square up the ball its a line drive to the out fielder or the ball dies. Most of us cannot over come our great hits being outs. The top players can becauae they do it almost every at bat. Sds has catered to the top 1 percent of players this year more than ever. Us casuals trying to enjoy the game cannot square up the ball everytime like them. Everytime I play a ranked game even when I win im completely unsatisfied. Extremely frusterating to hit consistently this year.

@SpawnOfDitka_XBL buddy, the top players HATE this year's game because the best inputs are punished more than the worst.

The skill gap has slowly narrowed over the past 3 titles and morphed into this RNG fest.

@Afromeister_XBL and how do you think us good players feel!! The rest of us that are not top players. When our good input is also not getting results. We cant make up the difference like the top players can. Which means we are the ones really losing to worse players more often. But thank you yes. Agreed.

I’d be fine if they just removed R2 when I pitch.

Again it's not the hitting, it's the cpu pitching. Everything and i mean everything is either dotted or a really obvious ball.

This hasn't been my experience at all. I play on Veteran for anything vs. CPU and they throw plenty of easily hittable pitches.

Ok i may be exaggerating a bit, but my experience this year has been really bad CPU pitching, maybe I'm just frustrated because it's late June. But yes if your patient enough the CPU will eventually throw strikes your right.

However I remember only a few years ago when the CPU would have no problem throwing good pitches though and hitting was fun, conquest was my favorite mode. Now conquest is a grind. But maybe it's just me.

Also, I've now walked 110 times this year, that may seem low but I am a very free swinger so that number should be way higher. I can't remember a year where the CPU has walked me that many times though.

As someone who plays this game to hit and not watch the CPU yes it's frustrating.

Last year had a lot of walks too, and an 0-2 slider plunking problem

Agreed, last year was awful as well and every pitch the CPU threw was late release.

The majority of the complaints basically come down to the fact that the game plays too much like real baseball. I know I am in the minority on this, at least on this forum, but personally I do not want the game to play like a home run derby where you just press X and are gifted a home run every pitch. There are arcade style games for that.

Knock it off. The majority of the complaints are because the game plays different than it used to on the lower difficulties, and its different in a more tedious way.

-In real baseball, the worst pitchers in the league aren't able to dot with the same effectiveness of the best pitchers in the league
-In real baseball, being slightly off in swing timing is not a guaranteed foul ball (it is in timing this year)

Also, STOP PUTTING WORDS IN PEOPLE'S POSTS THEY ARENT SAYING. Its obnoxious. Some of us use timing specifically to avoid HR derby, and to let the card attributes matter more.

And again, we are talking the lower difficulties.

The important thing to point out here is that neither of these things are actually happening in the game.
