...I want to watch the ball fly...I don't need to see my batter watch the ball fly...he doesn't need to see it...as he's not even real.

I'd prefer to see the ball fly for sure.

I’d love it if we could turn it off.

I like it. Certainly understand that it isn’t for everyone, but I think it just comes down to how you look at the whole experience of playing.

If you see it as an extension of yourself, and of your prowess in doing a thing, then you probably want to see it fly…

    as he’s not even real.

But if you accept that he is real, because he’s a little digital man with his own attributes and animations, and his own one-handed, smooth-as-butter swing… if you accept that you’re just helping him do the thing he was created to do, you kind of enjoy watching him admire his work.

    Watch it fly, baseball man.

Couldn't agree more. I've have given your comment 10 hearts if I could. I LOVED the animation from last year. It was gorgeous and thrilling to see the low-angle hero shot of the batter as the ball arced into stands. Just stunning. Now it's ugly as hell. I HATE it. It seems you get two shots -- one that's an ugly closeup of the animated looking player and then a quick cut to the ball going into the stands (it's not just ugly, I actually find it unpleasant to look at) -- and another that's the shot of the batter standing at the plate watching the HR, where it's not even fully clear it's a HR. Sometimes it's a foul. I guess seeing the pitcher bury his head is the only real giveaway. Why? Why did they change something that was perfect only to replace it with something that, frankly, makes it look like a cheap video game from the 90s?!

I will say the one good thing about this animation is that you know for sure its a HR. Not one of those fake outs that still looks like a HR but somehow lands 5.6 feet to the left of the pole.

I had one of those last week, that was caught by the left fielder.

I agree with the OP. The new animation is jarring and ruins the experience of the majestic home run that I just hit.
