MTO or franchise to pass the time?

I'm a dd events/br guy... Have been playing ranked exclusively for a month but kind've done with that.
Haven't tried mto and haven't done a franchise since before 2020. I'm dabbling in mto and it seems you can't really trade, you just update your block? Rosters are old too, can you load updated rosters to mto or did I miss that?
