DD has run its course for me. The most exciting thing for me is completing the LS, and this year the LS was underwhelming. They got rid of division bosses this year, which was a huge nerf to LS's value.
DD is like a small Catholic school trying to grow its enrollment every year against all odds, not wanting to admit that it's best off at a certain size and catering to a certain set of people.
Stop trying to please everybody and just make a compelling product that YOU love.

I didn't mind sets and seasons so much. I came in late when PSN dropped the game in PS Plus. But yeah, it was a little weird not to be able to use all your cards. I last played in MLBTS 22 and I was surprised to see it in 24. But I'm kind of glad they dropped it. Getting earlier season cards was a little tougher than Season 3 so I hope this fixes that.

Not many players around to read these posts, they all hated sets and seasons. This is GREAT news for the vast majority of players. Sets and Seasons sucked. Good job SDS.

The fact that last year they were ignoring all sets & season’s questions until launch but now are announcing it before they’ve even picked a cover athlete is extremely telling. They had to have lost a TON of revenue on stubs.

It was the dumbest idea they could have come up with for balancing their game. They never had enough cards to pull this [censored] off and were to afraid to drop it cause someone high in their management team created the idea and wanted to promote it as long as possible. It was a scheme to make more money but it failed. That's the only reason they are dropping it. Not because "tHEy LisTeN tO tHeiR bASe". They didn't listen to us for [censored]. It lasted for two whole games and it clearly didn't work the first time but they needed to squeeze as much as they could out of it.
Their playerbase isn't full of children and adults with no jobs that can stream and grind all day whaling money for SDS day in and day out like games like fortnite and CoD. This playerbase is almost entirely older men with jobs and families who don't have hours upon hours to waste on this subpar Playstation Plus game.
They went free to play halfway through. On a $80 game!!
It was NEVER about "listening to the base". It was ALWAYS bout making profit and thank God they didn't.Sets and seasons never worked for this game. It would have if they had a billion cards and no licensing walls to worry about.
You can never convince me making a 95 for a player one week in the game then banning that card from play two months later only to make a 87 overall version of the same [censored] player that forces you to either put more unnecessary hours or WORSE money into getting it.SDS didn't get smart and they didn't listen. They just noticed their wallets were thin and couldn't handle the failed get rich quick scheme their director's hot daughter came up with on her first day as manager at papa's game company.

And no. They are business that's been around for over 20 years. They have forums dedicated to seeing their fan bases complaints and issues. They are active on social media in the year 2024. They have directors, managers, supervisors, quality assurance reps, customer support staff, marketers, and money guys that see everything about their operations. This is EXACTLY what happened.
You clearly have no clue what you're talking about or how these businesses operate or how a business relying on their customers satisfaction should operate. Hush now, child and learn how to use correct words when trying to poke back. Don't defend them. They make plenty of money and don't need your defense. Just buy their slop.
I do know how they did. They didn't make a mistake. They made a plan to make money and it backfired so they doubled down. -

You can play the game, or you can not play the game.
With that being said it will be interesting to see how they navigate this... will we get early 99s or will the game have overalls increase as the year progresses with 99s reserved for things like XP Bosses, Program Final Rewards, BR, Ranked, Season Awards and packs?

Honestly the game plays far better with golds and low diamonds so I hope its a slow ramp up

They used the "Innings" format before '23 and it was a gradual ramp up as the year went along. However, there were some 99's in the collection rewards that you could obtain Day 1 if you were willing to drop $1K+ at launch.
