2v2 Ranked not restricted to Core and Season 2 Players?

Played with a friend 2v2 ranked first day of Season 2, we were able to choose anybody from Season 1. Was this intended? Spent the last bit trying to get a good core group of guys to start Season 2. Just to be able to use anybody I already had. Makes any type of grinding worthless, especially considering that no Stats towards any Programs or anything are obtainable in 2v2. Seems like it sucks to try and play with a friend.

Yes, the announcement stated that ranked co-op would not have season restrictions.
Ironically there are actually team affinity stat missions you can complete and grind in season 2 ranked Co-op (K's and Hits/Total bases) as opposed to just innings pitched in season one. Unfortunately unless you get lucky in matchmaking your throwing your team of core and season 2 players against everyones 99 season 1 squads so its a bit of a mixed bag. -
That pretty much sucks. So, outside of buying Season 1 people, we probably won't gain anybody for a month or so since majority of the stuff right now is like 90 and below players.
