Someone please tell me I'm hallucinating (Season 2?!)

So, I sat out last year's version of The Show. Needed a break. This is my first experience with "Seasons." Am I understanding this right, I cannot use any of the cards I paid and grinded (a lot) for for three months? It says my cards are all ineligible, with the exception of a few high 80s.
Someone please tell me that I'm missing something.
If this is the case...I cannot imagine that I'll play this game ever again...

For Season 2 Content, you will need to use Core cards or S2 cards.
Some modes, like Classic Mini Seasons and Nation Of baseball conquest will still allow you to use S1 cards.
Come Season 4 you will be able to use any of your cards. Unfortunately that won't be until like December.

You can use them except in Ranked and a few situations in the other modes. You get Wild cards (up to 4) in the Season 2 reward path where you can use your S1 cards too. You can also use Core cards all the time.

You should’ve definitely played last years version
At least you would’ve been able to use your set 1 cards during set 2

Obviously I'm late to the game (literally) on this, but...my goodness what a terrible way to design a game. I've lost all motivation to keep playing this game. Which is just as well...I only had about a month left anyway before College Football comes out.

I mean, I don’t disagree that seasons is not a good idea… but it’s not like you woke up today and figured out this is how seasons work. At least, I hope not. It’s been plastered pretty much anywhere and everywhere.
